Thanks for playing John, been a long time watcher so for you to play my game means alot. I didnt intend anyone to actually reorganize the layout of the boxes at the start of the game, it was an oversight on my behalf. But I found it cool how people just guessed that's what your supposed to do. It's a genuine strat too, definitely makes it easier, was thinking of patching it but I don't wanna take that away from the players that came up with the strat in the first place.
@pridestepswithdots83804 жыл бұрын
Your game is nice but it is a little bareboned as well because the only way to win is to repeat the same pattern over and over: stock, hide, help customer if caught, hide, stock... But, I think the little secrets behind it are nice, and it catches an okay exaggeration of what it's like working at retail. I read a comment that thought it was weird that the customers don't have a basket or shopping cart with them. I think adding those details will improve the immersive experience. Anyways, I hope you keep updating the game because it has potential to be a really fun, but yet a frustrating experience for those, like me, who haven't worked in retail.

@TheKnowerseeker Like I said, they can fuck right off with that bullshit. A servant is a domestic worker, not retail. They're trying to mind wamy customers into thinking there is a more personal connection there then actually exists and it causes more problems than it solves for the people just trying to get the job done. If they want that fake connection to attract the customers then they should hire someone to do specifically that and leave the rest of us in peace to do our jobs.

This is so perfect, I just quit my job working at a Kroger-owned grocery store and I mostly worked at the Customer Service desk but was hired as a cashier. I cannot tell you how many times people asked me where something was when it was *literally in the aisle directly behind them* _and the sign was labeled with that item_ but you begin to realize, with dread and misery, that people would much rather be spoon fed information rather than take a minute to look for it on their own. Every time John was like “IT WAS RIGHT NEXT TO YOU, YOU LITERALLY CAME TO ME WHEN IT WAS RIGHT THERE!” I was internally shouting “EXACTFUCKINGLY”. Also, the satisfaction when he gets to the safe staff room before a customer jumps him is so real; I had so many times where I’d be late for a break or lunch because of lines of customers and when my supervisor finally gave me the go ahead to leave, I would see someone coming up to my register and yank off my name tag like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ lol

As someone who worked retail for a good 7 months, this is a pretty accurate representation. Especially if it's your first few weeks. Whether its getting yelled at for making simple mistakes even though it's clear that you're new or being expected to process and drop a certain amount of goods in a humanly impossible amount of time. Thanks to the help of some great coworkers, I was pretty competent by month 4, but even then some MODs expected me to work at breakneck speed because of my young age, asthma and weight issues be damned. To them, I was practically Hercules. 😂😂😂 That job taught me two important things about the adult world: 1. It ain't all that different from the social hierarchy in high school and 2. Ageism is another serious issue we need to talk about more.

Oh that was my life in a nutshell working for the Children’s Place when I was 23. It was like a nightmare come true every single day. I once found a used diaper and poop on the floor in a dressing room.

This is super accurate for someone like me who works in retail and has really bad social anxiety. I work in a small store but its still crazy. Some people will ask for things that'll be right in front in front of them, if you don't take them to their specific item in like 30 seconds they'll ask for someone "smarter", etc. I am a young woman that works in a RV repair and accessories shop and you have no idea how many people just avoid or walk past me thinking I don't know shit. When I know a LOT of stuff in my whole year of working there. In fact I know more than my male coworker who's been there for 20+ years. It just sucks when I'm overlooked. And my coworkers agree with me too because they know my potential. I love my job otherwise, retail is retail and you can't change it... :/

23:40 Look at the "DIY/ELECTRICAL" sign in the left top corner For a split second the "Y" in "D.I.Y" changes to an E, spelling out "D.I.E"

It's funny watching John go from 'I've worked in other retails' to 'ITS RIGHT THERE! EVERYTHING IS LABELED.' Like a true grocery employee.

I’ve always said that everyone should be required to work retail so they can understand how much of a nightmare it is. This isn’t quite as bad as actual retail, but it’s close enough that I’d be willing to accept it as a reliable substitute.

This game is unfortunately accurate. John saying, "It's labled over there!" This is literally me all the time.

John: "I don't have experience of this kind of retail." Later John: "HE ASKED ME WHERE SOMETHING WAS RIGHT NEXT TO WHERE IT IS!!!!" Yup, that's this kind of retail right there.

I find it funny how I simultaneously said "stop losing your baby!" when John said it xD. I was fed up too hahaha.

I spent 6 years in retail and this is crazily accurate, people treating you like dirt, ridiculous workload, avoiding customers at all cost, hiding in store rooms.... Jheeze feel like I’m getting PTSD flashbacks

I feel my PTSD kicking in from years of working in retail as I watched you play this retail simulator. You say you don't have this kind of retail experience but by the end of the video you certainly sound like you do.

We found Lester. Bricked up in one of the back rooms. A skeleton. Don't trust the manager.... He's a serial (employee) killer! Only kills the best ones though! 😮

Reminds me of a retail customer who always insisted she deserved a discount because she was buying for a church. There was no convincing her that the church has to apply for tax exemption status; it's not just a random discount. She always had time to argue, but never five minutes to fill out a form at the nearby service desk. The worst was when she showed up with two children in the outdoor section and "asked" me to watch them for her. I told her no, employees legally can't take responsibility for children, and also I wasn't allowed to go more than 20 feet from the register. (There was only one outdoor cashier at a time, with a camera to catch any employee that stepped out of range.) Eventually she just left her young children to roam the open-air section/parking lot. Apparently she wasn't terribly attached to them. Luckily, the kids were a lot smarter than her and understood that their mum was acting like a clown, and I wasn't supposed to leave the booth. They stuck close to the register and were very polite.
