Tolkien mentions in his letters that dragons survived through the Third Age (and after) so including them seems fine as far as theme goes as they often allied with Morgoth before Sauron. Letter 144 reads: "Dragons. They had not stopped; since they were active in far later times, close to our own. Have I said anything to suggest the final ending of dragons? If so it should be altered. The only passage I can think of is Vol. I p. 70: ‘there is not now any dragon left on earth in which the old fire is hot enough’. But that implies, I think, that there are still dragons, if not of full primeval stature."

I'm definitely building a Sauron, The Dark Lord deck that will be thematically The Forces of Mordor. 9 Nazgul, The Witch King, a bunch of Amass cards, the removal spells I'm going to try and make as thematic as possible, with stuff like Tyrant's Scorn, Toxic Deluge, etc.. I've already ordered the sleeves, deck box and playmat for S, TDL.

So who is it going ? Your choices sound good

I would definitely put in argonath (the ozolith) if u’re going the amass orcs route. All the counters would not be wasted if the orcs get hated on and died. They just keep growing and growing!!!

I decided to run saruman, the white hand and took out some creatures, added a few more counterspells and removal spells, and the deck worked super well. I had a large orc army swinging every turn, i think i need to add a wonder, archetype of aggression, and archetype of imagination to the deck to consistently get my one large army through

I also switched to Saruman, The White Hand for my Commander and it was a good game. I ran Sauron, Lord of the Rings again with a few minor upgrades and it worked out better, but it was still a high cost spell to cast and to get its worth.

There was 2 artifact removal cards in the precon. The mammoth that can cycle for artifact destruction and goblin crater maker… plus feed the swarm for enchantment

Smaug was indeed the “last great fire drake of the north” so Sauron did not have any dragons under his command by the time of lord of the rings

I am pretty sure Rampaging War Mammoths is in the deck, which destroys specifically artifacts.

Hellkite tyrant is pretty sweet "artifact removal" if going the creature reanimator theme. Steal everyones artifacts! Especially if you get anger in the graveyard or a haste activator

When case in the game, I thought it was cast incorrectly. It specifies "from among them," referencing the cards that were milled, NOT the cards present in your graveyard before the milling happened. I could be totally wrong, but his ability to play that board wipe really changed the game a lot, and I thought he'd mentioned planning that beforehand. Could be wrong, but I also wanted to see if I'm wrong lol
