I enjoyed watching this even if I have no intention of ever picking up a Riley Sager book! About the wedding ring though, I'm pretty sure every married person I know wears their wedding ring at all times. The only exceptions I can think of are when they work in a place they can't wear jewelry (like a hospital) or maybe when their ring is super big and unwieldy or easy to damage, but otherwise the wedding ring just doesn't come off.
@BookswithEmilyFox2 жыл бұрын
Really? Even to swim in a lake? Tbh I at least wouldn't take it as a sign that they're having marital problems
@pendragonianlaw2 жыл бұрын
@@BookswithEmilyFox Oh no I wouldn't go that far either haha! I would jump to 'personal preference' before I'd jump to 'marital problems'. But yeah, I'm pretty sure the married people I know never take their rings off except to clean them. Maybe it's different depending on where you live?
@caburg932 жыл бұрын
@@BookswithEmilyFox A lot of people do wear their rings at all times; my mother never took hers off, ever. However, I am not that person. My fingers have always changed size with temperature… my rings would fall off in the cold, and several times I woke with my fingers swollen and had to wrap dental floss around my knuckle to get them off. I now have silicone rings, so comfortable and never fall off. One of my best friend’s went snorkeling on her honeymoon; some lucky fish must have found her diamond engagement ring :( That cured me of ever going swimming with my good rings!
@emilydigrande49362 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the person entirely! I have friends who wear their rings and never ever take them off. I don’t wear my wedding rings in the shower, when I sleep, or go swimming because it can damage the prongs and I’m super weirded out at the thought of bacteria being trapped in the ring. I get mine cleaned a lot, but it entirely depends. To each their own, I want mine to last forever but you can always replace diamonds that fall out.

I love watching you roasting Riley Sager’s books! 😀 I’ve never read any of them (more into SciFi and Fantasy genres), but your blogs totally satisfy my curiosity in these thrillers 😂 I must admit that I’m one of those people who never take off their wedding rings 🙈 To be fair, I did get the one which does not have precious stones and sits tightly on my finger so I’m 100% sure it will not slip off or get damaged. But still, the majority of people would probably take off their jewelry before diving into a lake 😀

A good book should never solely rely on plot twists to remain interesting; the sole driving force of this was the endless plot twists that even M Night Shyamalan would be ashamed of.

Not wearing a wedding ring while swimming or doing a physical activity make sense to me. I only really wear mine when I leave the house and that is only if I am not like going on a bike ride or a walk or something. I don't like to wear it day to day because I really rather not have it covered in paint and I am sure as hell not wearing it while swimming. Surely Kim K losing her hella expensive earring in the ocean had to have taught us something. The first Riley Sager book I picked up I thought it was written by a women and was extremely disappointed to find out it was a nome de plume for a man named Todd Ritter. Though it really explained why I thought the MC in Lock Every Door was the biggest dunce. I now research any thriller I plan to read to make sure it isn't a man using a female sounding pen name. I've been burned more than once.
@BookswithEmilyFox2 жыл бұрын
I think this is what bothers me the most about him. A pen name + only writing (questionable) female characters = sounds like a money grab. Sure it makes sense marketing wise since women apparently are the biggest mystery/thriller readers but if you don't make an effort to write decent female characters... The MC in Lock Every Door was so dumb I agree.

***Spoilerssss*** I just finished this book and I was so ready to suspend my disbelief (it’s my first sager and I’ve heard he always incorporates outlandish twists) but I was SO disappointed w/ the paranormal shit 😭 I thought there was going to be a second huge twist towards the end that steered us away from the whole possession stuff but nah, the ending fell super flat for me. Like now y’all are just a big happy family? And you’re telling me Eli and Boone had nothing suspicious going on with them at ALL?!? I had like a million and one more interesting theories than the way this actually went down……I’m generally disappointed by thrillers/not easy to please though idk!! That shit was so not it
@MoJordanReads2 жыл бұрын
My only experience with Riley Sager was Lock Every Door. I liked about 5% of it. The first half was pointless. Then there's a part where it feels like... is there a murderer chasing her? And that was fun while it lasted. But then it went one direction that I, personally, didn't like but then it turned out that wasn't the real thing and the actual reveal was like.... what? That's what all of this was about? I guess it was clever? A lot of people thought it was great but I was disappointed. I think thrillers are just not for me, lol.

I’m in the same boat as you with Riley Sager. I loved Last Time I Lied and Final Girls and i haven’t been nearly as impressed since then. But this was…wow. So disappointing. I actually really enjoyed most of the book but with that sudden supernatural “twist” I was done. I find supernatural conclusions to mysteries to be cheap cop outs, like I need to know going in that there’s supernatural elements I usually DNF any book that drops it more than halfway through. Like I know it’s dramatic but I almost feel deceived lol I ended up finishing this one just because I had so little left to read but this is like one and half stars from me

Do you guys take off your wedding rings in Canada? Interesting. Here in the US, we never take them off. Engagement rings, yes. Wedding bands? No. Not until we considered ourselves not married anymore. I mean, I’m sure there are a few women who take them off at night and for cleaning and such, but typically they’re on all the time. So it would be out of place for her to not have it on.
@BookswithEmilyFox2 жыл бұрын
To swim in open water yes. In a poll no. I guess it's different for everyone. I still don't think it's out of place to remove it to swim in a lake... either way, I wouldn't assume she's having marital issues just because she removed it to swim.

Thank you! This book pissed me off so bad... How can you be stuck in someone's head and yet somehow the info is withheld from you? Makes no sense... Especially when this is follow along the story type of narration and not something that the character would have written retrospectively to an audience... It was so cheap and trying to muddle everything with alcohol is just lazy. Also kudos for the MC to be able to run around and swim in a lake when she's between passed out drunk and overly caffeinated, being some kind of athlete doing a triathlon around that lake...
