The House of the Dead - Direct Capture Test #1

Decided to do a direct capture test from the original game hardware on my home setup. The setup involves intercepting the video data between the Model 2 filter board and monitor with a Gonbes 8200 and redirecting the VGA feed and audio into the HDMI capture card. I set OBS to capture at 57.5fps but it still isn't smooth; I'll have to play around with the settings a bit to figure that out. I also need to figure out what's wrong with my light gun as it doesn't calibrate well. Maybe I should just get a new one instead of buying a used one off of eBay.

Also, aside from the blue blood, I'm noticing everything has a slight blue tint to it in general... Kinda dig it! Really pops out when there is something red/orangeish on screen! I wish there were indie devs that replicated this style of 90's 3D graphics. Seems almost "clean" compared to the Quake and PSX graphics most people seem to replicate.

The output from the splitter gave it a bit of a "cool" blueish hue by default. I actually adjusted it afterwards and made it a tad warmer to make "white" closer to white.

Emulation make the game look worse than it is lol. The arcade has smoother animations, the rain is more pronounced, and it all seems a lot more fast and realistic. Plus it has a nice blue tint too it, but I don't know if that is the monitor itself or the game. Either way, seems like it's less cheesy and more quality now.

Hopefully someone makes a new model 2 emulator along with widescreen and lua script support. M2 emulator is amazing, but those floor and wall textures needs to be in the game. They 're too good looking to be left out.
