I'm thousands of miles away, brother (East Tennessee to be exact) but I appreciate your work. We like the ammo you chose, and it likes the longer, heavier barrels for accuracy and reduced recoil. 26 years in the Army has spoiled me using gas operated, 22 cal. pills. I nearly built the same rig, but I came across a bucket list gun that I couldn't pass up. A pristine 59/66 Yugo SKS. It's all matching serial numbers and in very nice condition. It just needed someone to clean out the cosmoline from the recesses. Thanks for making me jealous with your sweet little gun! 🤩

@@duranbailiff5337 Cheers Mate. Thanks for that. We all come across that “one” you just can’t let pass. Mine was a pristine Weatherby Mark V in 22-250 that had fired about 70 rounds. I use the thing, and it is ridiculous accurate. I actually shot the thing today. Stacking holes on top of holes. Hope you enjoy the videos.

Nice rifle Nick, though I don't like big magazines that hang down like that. Sorry to hear Nick Harvey has passed away. The guy was a legend in the shooting world. It always seemed to me he would be around for ever.

You're right about those projectiles being hard to find, I'm down to my last 10 seirra 125gn psp for my Baikal single shot 7.62x39 . It has a1:9 twist. It shoots 180 gn cast bullets pretty well but a few hundred fps of muzzle velocity is sacrificed. That Howa is a neat rig, I'm envious. 😏🇦🇺👍 .

I had same issue with Lee dies. I called them and they sent me a longer one free of charge. Their customer service is awesome.

🇦🇺😎👍Hey mate. I have a 10 shot Mamba mag and trigger guard mag well as well. They’re great on my liddle 7.62x39… What a great rifle. I’ve had mine since 2017…..PPU 123 grain sp do well 30 mm @100 yards….I put a 4-12x40 on mine…good reload accuracy , I’m looking forward to doing some loads…I put a 2 piece bolt handle on mine and it works well…I’ve never been to the Barn . I’ve had a look on their site , I mainly shop at Cleavers at Margate…. Interesting vid🏁ENJOY !

I'm also not keen on the plastic bottom metal but cant make my mind up between a Waters Rifleman replacement or go for a Excl Lite chassis both have their merits (its on a 223).

I put my 300 Blackout in an Excl Lite Chassis, and I can attest to their effectiveness, both in terms of accuracy and functionality. That little rifle is nice and light, which makes it really easy to carry around, and it comes to the shoulder nicely; much like a clay target shotgun in my opinion, and it swings around in a similar fashion, making target acquisition very easy, particularly in a “close quarters” type situation. People bag those little chassis; have none of it.

Good review Nick, how do you find the 7.62 compared to the 300. I have a Zastava and a Norinco EM 311 in 7.62x39

It’s got more recoil, and it does seem to hit (the backstop mound) pretty hard, but I haven’t done any field testing yet. I would Imagine that it would have a decent effective range. The only real downside is the apparent lack of projectile options, but that is somewhat offset by the powder options. But that’s just the world now I suppose.

I have used Barnes when available although they are a bit pricey. The 123g Hornady SP's are not bad.@@2clicksup910

It wasn't too long ago here in the Yoo-ess, probably before the Wu-floo that COMBLOK ammo was cheap and abundant. Now that there's a conflict in Eastern Europe, AK ammo is neither cheap, nor abundant. Where the 300 B.O. was expensive, now it's getting more affordable and much more easy to find. It's to the point that outside of Hornady Hunting ($$) 5.45x39 ammo is almost nonexistent. Yes, it can be found, but average Joe dare not try to afford it. Surprisingly, the rifles that chamber the little AK round are getting very pricey. Wot say ye from The Land Down Unduh? Inquiring minds want to know...
