I'm not sure the lengthen-shorten lines need to match up; I've never checked that and I lengthen everything haha. Those lines aren't used to match up your pieces; however, any notches on the pattern do need to line up, as that's what counts when you're assembling the pieces. I grudgingly do the occasional toile, but I don't like it 🙃

Thank you. I thought I was going mad lol. Toiles are not my favourite part of the process but if I do it the first time I make a pattern I can skip it when I come to make it again. Unless of course my size changes which it so frequently does. But then ita just a case of more or less seam allowance if you have an overall good fit
