Loved the quiet, sincere simplicity of this video. Really proud of you guys. This is great stuff.

Love this development series, I apprenticed to brothers boat building way back, they did development like this, learned so much and most important HOW to learn & look outside the box on things boat design/build, oh yea, and how the heck are we going to build it, quick, cheap, see if it falls to bits at speed etc, fun times, you guys have taken it to the next level X 5! With the funding where it should be these days, wish so much to be young again with materials AND computers used.

Seems the bow structure will have to be redesigned for 2024...

I wonder how much it is, just to build the raw hull. It doesn't look cheap, that's for sure.

Impressive work. But maybe the hull got to stiff? Is it already clear what caused the structure failure?

Alex, can the foils be replaced at sea and will you be taking spares?

I am interested to hear about what went wrong? Design, materials, build? Alex had to spend so much time and energy on the repair. Not ideal race winning strategy. I hope it holds...
@josedacunhafilho4 жыл бұрын
same here... but I can only imagine the Apollo 13 all nighter between Saturday and Sunday was to contrive not only the repairing, but major reinforcement of the entire structure to ensure it survives all the way back to Les Sables. In first place ideally. I thought after the race the whole bow could be sawed off and sold in auction. Imagine owning that piece with Thomson's repair as a sculpture at home?

Hey Alex & The Team I’ll start with good luck in The Vendée Globe, just out of curiosity what happens to the old boats? Do you put them on eBay? Lol

Traditionally, innovations from oceans racing boats circuit ultimately found their way to the fast cruising boats market. We're now at a point where that is about to stop. Will anyone want to cruise around the globe on a boat with foils? how practical or unpractical will that be?
