I keep looking for the reason the forward facing windows are flat to the direction of motion. The water makes maximum impact and the pool of water is carried forward with the boat until it drains. Surely an angle would be less drag and weight.

I asked myself the same thing as you. Here are some thoughts i came up with, why they did the windwows the way they did them: To angle the windwows, either the bottom has to go forward, or the top backwards. The latter one makes the inside smaller, it would be hard to stand up in the front of the cabin. Moving the bottom forward is probably difficult, because the mast is right there. Also, it's verry hard to see out of verry angled windows, when they are wet.

Big talk about the design . . . but Thompson risked his life on it and the boat broke.
