I never understood as a teen in the late 90s why all the older generation hated the Grunge era of Rock. As I got older I realized their version of Rock & Roll was happy and sexy and fun. 70s and 80s Rock was just a blast. Everyone was just partying their asses off. So to them Grunge turned the party into a funeral. It made the music sad and serious. As a teen I thought they were just old and cranky and just couldn't adapt, but the more I listen to 70s and 80s Rock the more I see their point.

The problem with grunge is it all started sounding the same, then the fact that it completely killed rock in the mainstream and now we have Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, plus the mush mouth or overly computer generated crap hop.

I was a late boomer who felt what you said about grunge exactly. All it did was bring me down from a three decade high. It was Whiny...just to be whiny. Me? I prefer ass kicking fun! So give me my 60s, 70s and 80s and stop!
@vaportrails79433 ай бұрын
All the partying Boomers did wrecked the lives of a lot of kids who came after them, and grunge was a consequence of that. But I agree, it sucks, and nobody wants to listen to it because it’s so depressing. It just makes things worse. And when you look at the way most of the singers of grunge bands ended up, it gets too real. I can’t listen to it.

At a time when MTV was pretty much only playing New Wave stuff, this went hard af, and opened the door for a lot of the heavier stuff like Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister. Steve Stevens is legendary. This song in particular holds up in every way 40 years later, and I still turn it up every time it comes on.

Billy Idol was the poster boy for what an 80's Rockstar should look like. The guitarist is Steve Stevens and his wild guitar style complimented Billy's stage presents. Stevens also performed the guitar theme of the original "Top Gun" movie.

THANK YOU. It was obvious that Billy Idol was the alpha of the thing, but Steve Stevens absolutely was the core of the sound. He's gone unnoticed for a long time because of how Billy (rightfully so) is the focus of the mix, but if you listen for it, Stevens is doing incredible work all over the track.

He's got a very 80's look, here, but I feel that his voice and his music are pretty timeless. Other songs: White Wedding, Eyes Without a Face. He had an early 90's hit with Rock the Cradle of Love, which had a rather steamy video.

The iconic red vest, the best sneer in rock since Elvis. An underrated voice. A friend and I got to see him in a small venue concert in Vegas in 2017. It was in a House of Blues, so we're all surrounding the center stage, only 20 or 30 feet from him. I swear he looked in better shape then than in the 80s. Dude was shredded, an energetic powerhouse and put on a 2 hour performance of hit after hit from his entire career. Two of his (in my opinion) best songs are often overlooked, Cradle of Love and Eyes Without a Face.

That was the greatest response I have ever gotten from a famous person and it was sincere like you said he gets so in to it well just a comment made him that excited like a kid in a candy store it was awesome! He loves what he does and you feel it and I also met Steve Stevens the guitarist and he also noticed me air guitarist in the crowd and called me out afterward and was saying the same type of stuff with an F word every other word but he thought I was awesome so my point is Billy and Steve were the two coolest people like ever!

Billy STILL has an amazing voice, and all that energy and attitude. A song that that you might not see a lot of recommendations for because of the album it came from, "Shock to the System." That song will have you moving all over the place. I've always likened Billy to a cross between Sinatra, Elvis, and the entirety of the punk attitude alll stuffed into one man. When he does a ballad, he will MELT you. When he does high energ songs, you are GOING to be moving. And Billy and Steve Stevens (the guitarist) have been together their who career almost. You should check out some of his newer stuff. "Save Me Now, "One Breath Away," "Cage" just came out a couple of years ago and it's an absolute banger, and "Bitter Taste" is a one that just came out. That one is about his motorcycle accident that really messed him up back when the video for "Cradle of Love" was released. It's why he's only shown mostly neck up on a tv screen.

So the next day a group of us kids were yelling ..With a Rebel Yell, we cry more, more, more, in the midnight, more, more, more! 😂 Butchering the lyrics. However the fact that a bunch of us little girls were singing them (lyrics)was hilarious & scary at the same time! My brother yelled (no pun intended..) at all of us, saying don’t you ever let me hear you singing that song again! Oh the awesome 80’s, being a little kiddo was cool.
