@ElMaestroGordo7 жыл бұрын
JLaw shows the clever subtleties of performing right here. Also, little Willow who plays Prim adds brilliantly to the scene in the quiet stillness. Katniss would probably like nothing more than to cry at how unfair it is and the injustice, to be afraid for her sister, but her desperation to save Prim is overwhelmed by the strength she has to show for the Capitol. She mustn't let them refuse her volunteering!

+El Maestro I like how this scene is taken almost word for word from the book. "I volunteer!" I gasp. "I volunteer as tribute!" . . Prim is screaming hysterically behind me. "No, Katniss! No! You can't go!" "Prim, let go," I say harshly, because this is upsetting me and I don't want to cry. When they televise the reaping, everyone will make note of my tears, and I'll be marked as an easy target. A weakling. I will give no one that satisfaction."

I love the absence of music throughout most of the scene. It adds a sense of realism and numbness that hits the viewers subconsciously. Then, only after Peeta begins making his way to the stage does an ominous and solemn soundtrack play faintly in the background. Not enough to ruin the overall silence, but just enough to begin moving past numbness and towards acceptance.

Maja Reinecke She prefers Prim. Katniss was rude towards her and basically despised her for “leaving” when her dad died (she had depression - and still does in the book - but depression isn’t widely known as a thing in the districts). Katniss has to supply everything for her family and hated her mother for forcing her and Prim to fend for themselves. Her mother much prefers Prim, and is probably more relieved that Prim has been saved. She’s upset for Katniss, but not as upset as she would’ve been for Prim.

NEVER forget that because of choosing and reading the female first, Peeta was picked. Effie was clearly influenced after Katniss volunteering. So you could never say it would have been Peeta and Prim instead. That would only work if his name was picked before Prim's name was read. It could have been Peeta's brother or even Gale. (Also do 18 year olds like Gale or Peeta's brothers do a little joy dance when they are not picked? Even if a 12 year old gets picked instead?)

The part the still haunts me is that prim only had one paper with her name inside the reaping ball while many kids (Katniss included) had several because they could trade food supply in exchange for adding their name to the ball more than once. Katniss had her name put in the ball 20 times because of this, and she made sure prim would never have to do it and she still got picked in her first year.

In the books. Katniss had put her name for food. Rations. Basically the more you put in the more your name has a chance to be picked as a tribute. She also did so, Prim didn't have to put her name in besides the 'one'. Very little chance of her ever getting picked to get sent into the games. As she would do what she can to protect her sister. Gale did the same with his own younger siblings....being from a large family. And of course....Prim's name ends up called....and Katniss basically heart shattered. The odds of her name getting picked....and she had so with the name Katniss on it.

If Effie had picked any name but Prim’s, Katniss and Gale would have probably gotten together, Prim would still be alive, Peeta would have died horribly, the districts would still be slaves, and 23 more kids would have died in the 75th Quarter Quell + every year after. If Effie had picked any name but Peeta’s, there would be no revolution, Katniss would have either died or become the lone victor, Gale wouldn’t be on the fast track to the friendzone, Prim would still be alive, the 75th Quarter Quell wouldn’t have been past victors so Annie & Johanna wouldn’t have gotten tortured and Finnick would still be alive… The moment Prim’s name was called, so many fates were sealed, including hers. Crazy how just one tiny piece of paper changed the lives of everyone in Panem!

In the books it pointedly makes clear that what Katniss did in volunteering for Prim was a extraordinary first as even older siblings wouldn't volunteer for younger siblings. This why what Katniss did for Prim was so widely noticed and respected by the people of Panem. They wouldn't do it because they would be sacrificing themselves and the family would still lose a member. They didn't and wouldn't have the sense of responsibility for their sibling that Katniss had to take on for Prim after their fathers death. As bad as losing a sibling would be for them, it wouldn't be as crushing to them as it would have been for Katniss to lose the only person she loved in Prim.

Technically they had the rule that both tributes from the same district can win, they revoked that at the end of the games so only one of they was alive but then when they were gonna kill each other they reinstituted it
@Accel_Lex4 жыл бұрын
Shia Labeouf ✔ To my knowledge, they made the rule that both tributes can win towards the end, when Katniss was treating Peta’s wounds in the cave or whatever. But when they both became champions, they had no way of knowing that rule would get established. I’m assuming that because in Peta’s interview, he said he can’t be together with his crush even if he wins, because she got picked to be a champion as well. If the rule was established even at that point, the interviewer would have likely said something like “Let’s hope you both make it.” But instead said that it was definitely tragic. The rule was made for them, but then got revoked as you said, but they were going to kill themselves so it got reestablished so there wouldn’t be a game with no victor. I haven’t watched/read it in years tho so my memory may be off.
