He’s been sweet his whole life, common misconception is he’s not because he’s an alcoholic. In reality he was a caring brave but person that had to endure traumatic events from the hunger games leading to his drinking state. His full character story is my favorite, I’m glad Katniss saw him almost as a father figure throughout the movies

I love The Hunger Games series and the main reason is this: it's completely, intelligently wound together. Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter series is clever and evil; Eric from the Divergent series is manipulative and impulsive. But none of them can touch the sides when it comes to President Snow. He's manipulative beyond anything like them, and he knows how to keep his aims in place whilst making it seem like they've changed. He's intelligent to a degree that Voldemort and Eric can't compete with. They are almost entirely single-minded on their goals (purity and power) and convinced their plans will work. Snow is not. Whilst he has his aims, he understands that sometimes people screw up and that plans need to be flexible and must have back-ups. As he says to Katniss about Crane, if he'd had sense, he would have blown Peeta and Katniss to bits when she pulled out the nightlock. But he didn't so he had to be flexible around that "issue". I admire Suzanne Collins so much for being able to create him. *Hope is the only thing stronger than fear.* Fabulous phrase.

Okay, so...this is proof that someone sat down with Suzanne Collins and had a long, fruitful, in-depth discussion about President Snow: his story, his motivations, every feeling he hides behind his face. Because this scene wasn't in the book. Instead she has a talk with Coin about how one of the most painful things in the world is waiting for something to happen and knowing you can do nothing about it. I think that scene is probably a change that has the book beat. But the way Snow _talks,_ especially that line about the things people love most? SOMEone on the writers' team must have known Snow's story. And to be honest, we the viewers see a certain vulnerability in Snow here that could seem out of character if people don't know him well. But he appears happy, almost maniacally so, which doesn't scream "control" like the rest of his appearances. Later, of course, we realize that Snow's planning to torture Katniss with Peeta, and he's just anticipating the moment.

The fact everyone forgets...Katniss is sixteen. Every time I watch these movies or read these books, everyone seems to forget Katniss is barely sixteen and are demanding she be a face of their revolution. Same with Peeta- he's an abused sixteen year old boy who was thrown into an arena and forced to fight to the death. And he was tortured in the hands of the capitol and brainwashed. Katniss and Peeta are sixteen.

@Kameryn Collins From what I know, Lucy was the first victor from district 12 during the 10th hunger game. Because there was no victor before her from 12, someone from the capitol’s academy was assigned to be her mentor; that mentor was Snow (before he rose to power). As he mentored her and watched her in the game, he began falling in love with her. Lucy likely had a lot of similar qualities to Katniss, which is likely why they see each other closer to equals than what we would expect, and why Snow is so fond of her.

what people are not getting from this scene is how there's no real winner in something like this... I hated this story - books and movies - simply because this was not just a concept in one's mind. We've seen this before in real life and it's probably happening somewhere the media isn't allowed to report. Katniss is no hero - she was a victim of both parties, of the circumstances. Remember that most of the people fighting and dying in these stories were KIDS.

music i love music Her sister, her sister got chose to be in the hunger games but she didn’t want her sister to die in the hunger games so she volunteered and she doesn’t want anything to happen to her sister (Prim is her name) and Peetah, Peetah kinda saved her life when she was 11 by giving her bread when she was about to die from starvation.
