Although I got this tractor for 1/8th of retail, I wanted to revisit this thing to talk about the good and the bad. With Mowing and gardening season right around the corner it seemed like a good time to do so.
Clearly my GT has had a LOT of upgrades to make it a work horse here on the homestead. Over all, I've been pleased with nearly everything. The fuel consumption is lower than with the Briggs engine, and the K66 Transmission has only given me one issue.
These things are not cheap, but if you are in need of a true garden tractor to handle a large yard, then maybe this is the unit for you.

Keep the garden tractor videos coming. I have 3 larger tractors but love my simplicity sunstar with sleeve hitch for fixing the driveway after a heavy rain. Garden tractors are so much fun.

As a Husqvarna mechanic at a dealership I have had experience with the so called frame weakness. What I usually find is cracks in the frame around the rear axle mounts. This is caused by operators slamming the pedals forward to reverse without coming to a complete stop. I have seen John Deere 165's do the same and they have a MUCH thicker frame. The TS is the tractor I told my father to buy when he needed a new one. P.S. I love your radio videos too.

Yeah I agree some ppl just don't understand "it's a tractor not a car or truck". I found the frame work on a Husqvarna and John Deere are about the same but definitely better than a sears. The Husqvarna I have has a 27hp & my neighbors with their John deere garden tractors are jealous. I've pulled several things that their John Deere couldn't but you have a great point.

I also work at a Husqvarna dealer and I believe some of the blame for cracked frames could be from the weight of the deck.

Do you ever miss the "Ol' Grey" GT6000? Have you thought of compiling all your Mower Maintenance Video's (Carb Cleaning, Recoil Rope Replacement, Deck Cleaning, Blade Sharpening, ect) into a "Tune-up & Maintenance Video"? Just gather all the "snippets" and maybe add some New Footage! Great for all of your viewers that "can" fix-it themselves... 🖖

Following your lead, I put a JB Jr. on my TS348xd but I DIY'd a joystick control system so that it acts like a Bobcat (makes it easier for the family to use it). Like many others, I want to thank you for the update and especially for the earlier videos. They were very helpful to me for selecting a lawn tractor and building a practical and cost effective solution for my little homestead.

I got a husky for mowing my yard and hauling things around.. it has the brigs 22 hp motor. I have had it for for three years now.. never a lick of trouble.. Though I have a bad back and hips and this baby sometimes is like riding a bronc.. just bang and jarring me around.. I am thinking I might try and put some sort of suspension on it this year.. and maybe some better rear tires.. I got it stuck just two days ago doing the first mow of the season.... My fault it was wet and I new better.. Thanks for this "lookie here" video.. It gave me some ideas.. Carry on son.. you really have turned this YT thing into a nice couple of very interesting spots to come and send a little time on the farm with you.. my family owned a ranch when I was younger.. I miss those days..

I've noticed the solenoid clicking noise on my TS354D. I have found that if I flip the switch and it clicks, I need to let tractor move just a bit for the diff lock to lock in place. Like a shift on the fly 4wd system on a truck. I've had no problems disengaging. I appreciate the updates and great info on your channel.

That is a great deal you got on those sleeve hitches. We never had a Johnny Products scoop (which is a an upgrade), but had the Craftsman scoop and was amazed at what we were able to do with ours. Our Kohler V-twin drinks gas also at an alarming rate, we understand what you are talking about. You have some nice upgrades on that tractor. Nice job on the video, keep them coming!

I definitely agree. Husqvarna tractors are definitely the way to go. Mine is 6 years old GT48XLSI (discontinued😒) with the same battery, same mowing deck, grass catcher all original belts. Never had a problem with the mowing deck, smart switch, or the 27hp Briggs and Straton engine. I love the locking system for the back tires, drive system (hydro), the smart switch (don't have to worry about losing a key). I've pulled several boats, a boat trailer with tons of wood on it, a swing set over, branches out of a willow tree, 14 cubic ft trailer with big rocks & full of sand. Never going back to craftsman even though I had one that lasted me 18 years. Great video Eric.

@@FarpointFarms that’s good to know, I’m looking for a mower, don’t want to really go commercial grade but seems like residential is made for like 40 hours a year. Right now I got a 1989 Honda 5518 garden tractor. It would be awesome if I could find any attachments for it but here in Hawaii there is nothing. No one sells category 0 parts. And buying one online the shipping costs as much as the item.

I want to get some G5 Gator blades for my TS54D but I'm not 100% sure if Oregon makes them... it looks like they make Gator blades for other 54" Husqvarna with stamped decks but not sure if they would fit the 54" fabricated deck of the TS54D?? (FYI - for all I know the stamped and fabricated desks are exactly the same dimensions underneath) Have you changed your blades out yet with anything other than the factory ones?

Thanks for the tip! I have noticed it is hard to start at time. Wants to kick back and was wondering if there might be an issue with compression. I'll check it.
@Dboyquicks10
@Dboyquicks10 Жыл бұрын
@@FarpointFarms there is a compression release on the cam. When your valve lash is to wide it can't crack open causing it to kick back. Set the piston 1/4" past tdc on the compression stroke and adjust both valves to .004. repeat on the other side.

Find this comical and amusing. My neck of the woods, that is a riding mower, I've never seen a "tractor" in that size. I have a small compact tractor that I consider a light duty machine. My New Holland Workmaster 35, it's about the size of a car or small truck and it is light duty only. My T6 is a monster compared to a riding mower. Just can't figure out what you'd use something that small for. I know you're not picking up hay bales or pulling disk or brush cutter with it, but I'd really like to see these things at work. Just to see what they can do.
