As part of my continuing upgrades to my TS 354D Garden Tractor, I purchased a Johnny Products electric sleeve hitch upgrade for my Craftsman Sleeve hitch. This combo makes any riding mower into a serious tool.
I used my old one to make beds, back blade the drive, turn the garden, and much more. Since many folks are starting their first gardens this year due to world events, I suspect many will want to look into tools like these to help turn yards into gardens.
Please check out my other garden videos to see just how easy it is to do this on a budget!

Great video as always. I have a Husqvarna built Craftsman GT 5000. Love these little garden tractors and so glad you bought another one. Johnny Products have always been an interest of mine and love their little front end loaders. I currently have the 48" manual Craftsman Dozer blade that everyone has. Sure, would love to upgrade!!!! Keep doing a great job with the videos!!

You may want to beef up the axle mounts on your tractor. The chintzy bent tabs from the frame will crack. I added some brackets using the factory holes on the axle bracket and mounted the other end higher up on the side of the frame, drilling 2 holes and bolted in place. Just some extra strength. Good vid!

Good to see you on the air . I'm gonna send you some knee pads , I can feel that concrete !! That's a nice looking tractor, good upgrade for the farm . Also I spied 🕵️what looks like at least one old Washington style base on the shelf and something similar on top . I have one in great cosmetic shape but it needs some pretty major repairs under the lid , but I got it on the cheap 👍. I'll send it off eventually .

I'm shopping for a lawn tractor and like you I want to do more with the product than the manufacturer would like but I noticed that the Johnny Bucket website clearly states they don't recommend the TS3xx series because they have weak frames. Since you put their sleeve hitch on your unit I was wondering if you have any regrets and/or have noticed any issues? Thanks for your time and for your excellent videos. Paul - Toronto Canada.

Love your videos (and your property)! Quick question: I have a Troy bilt Pony I've used for snow plowing and it's been surprisingly good. It's the 7 speed CVT and is used about 7-8x winter, 1 hour each time. Any concerns with the transmission with all the Reverse gear use? Thanks!
@FarpointFarms
@FarpointFarms 2 жыл бұрын
I would just do maintenance on it, the pony transmissions are the lighter duty side so long term are not designed for hard work, that said, most of them are able to be serviced if needed.

Hi! Thank you so much for these videos and demonstrations. We recently bought a Toro ZeroTurn Time Cutter tractor for gardening and cutting our lawn. We only bought a Disc Cultivator and regular Hitch Kit. Do we need to buy the Sleeve Hitch and Harrower instead? After watching you use that plow to dig that trench, I feel like we need that, too, because our land has deep hay-like roots. I'm so confused now but I want to get the necessary equipment to be a successful homesteader. Please advise.
@FarpointFarms
@FarpointFarms 2 жыл бұрын
The sleeve hitch is really needed to make both of those work.. The disc cultivator is more for making rows to plant in the cultivator is for ripping to soil. We have used the cultivator more that the other. The fun part of homesteading is learning what works for you. Every year we learn what works best for us. We have learned that in ground gardens don't always give us the results we want. T

I added a Johnny Product sleeve hitch to my Husqvarna 354 and I love it except for one problem. Now when I steer my front wheels skid on the ground and will not turn. @FarpointFarms
@FarpointFarms 4 жыл бұрын
There should be some square holes in 4 spots around the perimeter of the wheel hub. The long bolts that come with these go in there. Most setups only use two of the holes and two of the bolts per side.
