So *This* is why F1 drivers take exits out of corners at pretty high gears and low rpm, because by putting the ERS into overtake, the MGU-H pumps energy back into the turbo, eliminating turbo lag and aiding in reving the engine back up. This being faster and more efficient than just keeping high rpm and loosing time in shifting gears (?) This is fascinating, thank you!

love your videos. but your animation doing the four strokes of the ICE might confuse some. I know its not the point of your video, but the intake stroke and exhaust stroke animation during the ICE portion are depicted as being done at the same time, when in reality they are not. MGU K also can be switched to harness either 0 or max energy from the rear axle which causes car to slow during acceleration thats why the rear red light turns on. which affects the brake bais for the rear. MGU H gets the energy from the heat of turbo to either fully or partially charge the battery

great explanation. But how doe the MGU-H actually get energy out of the turbo?
@TheVeyron6235 жыл бұрын
It's in the name. MGU-H. Motor Generator Unit - *Heat* . Basically it takes the heat energy and converts it into stored energy.
@edwindelgado50485 жыл бұрын
The only questions I have are: If the energy being harvested from the turbine by the MGU-H is being generated in a direction, let’s say clockwise, how can it be put back into the turbine in the same direction for it to produce boost? To my understanding, the generator can become a motor and produce boost only by rotating in the opposite direction. Is there any magnet polarity manipulation happening inside the generator/motor?
