In both foresight and hindsight, do you believe the WNBA messed up big time by snubbing Caitlin Clark off the 2024 Olympic Team?
@sebulller
@sebulller 4 ай бұрын
I think they should have chosen a better roster all together. Look at the Feever players now they are killing it! But that is the hindsight perspective. Forsight. I think they should still have a better roster than they had. Diana Taurasi is frankly to old... she is 41-42years of age? Caitlin Clark is good but I really do not know if that is the best. But she had an audience it is stupid not to take advantage of it! that is the mind boggling part. So if they USA team lost at OL hell would be loose. I think to answer your question they messed up big time.
@sebulller
@sebulller 4 ай бұрын
an another point i have to make is this. By not taking clark and ditch atleast a few others and take some good players. Than they could do both. Win gold and get more money! in one fell swoop. But I do not think it is pride or jealous. I think this is just politicks at its very finest. If i take you and we do this and that and whatever. We get more of other stuff. So my question is how much was the prize money? Because that is what no one talks about. So the USA team won gold. Good for them. But how much did they get paied each for doing so? Now the raitings remark makes alot of sense if they got paied big.

That's why Indiana picked her first. Now they are probably going to the playoffs. There was a flurry of discussion about the rookie of the year honors. Forget that. Caitlin is the MVP. "she should still be over there and the more legitimate and honourable political prisoners should be free" The problem with this statement is there are no legit, honorable, political prisoners in Russia that should be set free and I am assuming you mean Americans. The Marine and Wall Street Journal reporter who were set free much later that Griner were guilty of spying that is why the CIA was involved in the traded prisoners. Also, Russia released surveillance video of both men caught red-handed receiving classified Russian information. Americans are not saints. Both countries spy on each other and when Americans get caught doing it they shouldn't whine and cry about it, because they knew the risks of being a spy.

Caitlyn Clark is an incredible athlete, but I feel the WNBA isn't giving her the recognition she deserves. It seems like they were hoping Angel Reese, being Black, would become the face of the league, following the NBA's approach of having a Black athlete as the face for decades, likely for financial reasons. However, Reese hasn't lived up to the hype. Caitlyn Clark, who inspired me to start watching the WNBA, deserves that spotlight.

The fact that she will probably be a generational talent is just the cherry on top. The WNBA is largely missing a plum business opportunity that any other industry would be directly tapping in to. It’s just poor business management, nothing more, nothing less. It’s simple business management, not rocket science.

I'm French and honestly the women's defeat in final was harder to bear compared to the men's one (cause nothing to do against Steph, and imo the refs of the W final weren't great), but I feel like it is for the better that we lost in women, for the sake of the WNBA and women basketball. US losing would have shut their ego for good but they would have also lost the trust of the public in the level of the WNBA

18 PPG and leading the league in assists for a while. This woman is not playing like a rookie. Caitlin Clark is the future. She's a monster as of year 1. It didn't even take her 1 season to figure things out. I can't even imagine how awesome she's going to be in year 5 or 6 if she doesn't get injured.

Arike Ogunbowale and Caitlin Clark were both snubbed. Both of them should have been on the team before Taurasi and Young. Easily. Only reason Taruasi was even on the team was because she is near retirement. Clark has better stats than her in every single category. The bias of not putting Arike and Caitlin on the team were the exact reason I didn't watch a single second of it. And I loved the fact that Team USA lost to the WNBA All-Stars headlined by Ogunbowale and Clark. Definitely poetic justice.

Ok, admittedly I know nothing about basketball as a sport. I played in elementary and that was it. That being said, I still cannot believe they left Clark off the Olympic team. Clearly the "admission criteria" they speak of did not contain any statistics or performance analytics. It reeks of jealousy.

I'm kind of sick of hearing thing like they don't make enough money, they have to go play overseas. Britney was making over 200k a year when she was playing in the Russian League as well that's almost 5 times the national avg in the US. And that's before merch and endorsements. She was making more then "enough", she just wasn't making what she wanted. Huge difference. Even the league min is almost 20 grand higher then the avg income.

US Olympic basketball teams (male and female) have ALWAYS included 1-2 rising stars, either college players or recently drafted players. NOT taking Clarke was nothing but spite from jealous women who didn’t want a rookie outshining them. They broke from tradition and made an awful choice because their feelings were hurt. This is why women’s sports struggle to attract fans. So dumb.

Love your videos. I thought one of the purposes(raisin d’être) of the Olympics is bringing eyeballs and interest to lesser sports. They say every 4 years gymnastics signups spike. Love CC and her game and so far she’s just kept her head up above all the BS. The W just better hope they don’t drive her away, she’s their golden goose.

In the whole discussion of gender equality (which i am all for), no one of importance is prepared to admit that the WNBA is not a fun to watch. With the exception of a few good players, ive seen better games from high-school kids. Now there is Caitlin Clark, a basketball player with the skills, talent, and attitude that the league has always needed. It shows how average the players in the league really are. That they needed a better product... one they could sell.

"It's not the Olympic's responsibility to market the WNBA." This is objectively false. Included in the mission statement of the Olympics is "promotion of sports." That's literally marketing. When Wokies put together their DEI rosters you get low ratings or in the case of Australia you get ratings for the exact opposite reason: embarrassment.
