between the RG550 and this RG565, would you choose the RG565 over the RG550?

Looks pretty sweet. Nicely done Anthony. I'm not really one for changing parts. So far been happy with stock setups. Also, don't want to open that rabbit hole.

I can definitely see that POV. I just love bright colours too much to keep them black! :-D

Need your opinion.. Do you think a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails neck pickup will fit and work well with this guitar. I don't really like the thin sounding stock neck pup.

Just got mine in Vampire Kiss. Not sure how it’s going to sound but I’ve opted for a cool rails in the neck and a dimebucker for the bridge. Hoping it will give the guitar more versatility. Having two rail style pickups is also great for maintaining consistent volume in your bends. Gonna do the conversion in a few months after I replace the strings. If you respond, I’ll post with an update

Sorry just getting around to replying! 🫣 What did you decide in the end? I'm thinking of replacing mine eventually.
@thenkindler00111 ай бұрын
@@ACMusic bro it hasn't even been close to 3 months XD But I will be getting the pickups I specified. Very similar outputs to the neck and bridge stock pickups.

I have one of the Sweetwater limited edition versions of this in Vampire’s Kiss. I love it. It turns out that the Sweetwater limited colors of VK and Laser Blue are being released in a run for the Euro market. I’m a little upset by this, but the Euro market didn’t have access to the Sweetwater guitars, so it’s nice that that’s happening. Plus, mine will always be a 21 MY and they Euro ones will be 22 MY.

What strings do you use buddy? My 550 Genesis still has the factory strings which feel sharp to the touch probably because they're old and need throwing away.
@ACMusic2 жыл бұрын
These are super slinky. I use those on all my guitars!

@@ACMusic Nice, ever tried the Pradigm ones? I've a set on my Charvel at the moment and still look brand new after 2 months.

Nice!! What kind of pedals? I don't even know where to begin with that wizardry!

lovely stuff. measure the neck pickup depth then get a YJM Fury single coil for it for twangy noise free tone * if it fits and unless it has to be PINK!

Singlecoil twang! Yes! Still not decided on the colour yet!

Thanks Anthony! That was a geat review - you really should do more of them. It's a cool guitar for sure, love the reverse headstock. It's disappointing that the frets needed work. I wonder if it left the factory like that or if it's due to the long distance the guitar has travelled and temp/humidity changes. I would hope so. However, regardless of the reason, it should have been picked up and sorted out by the retailer. I recently bought a similarly priced new Ibanez (from the Axion range) and it played great, but had a serious issue with the pick guard - it was lifting away from the body. I doubt it left the factory like that, but you never know. I bought it from GAK and as it was the last one in stock I decided to keep it and get a new guard ordered under warrany, but I am very disappointed that it was not spotted before being shipped.

I Enjoyed the review. and Yes have been wanting a Ibanez RG 480 Metallic Frost.....Found one on Amazon for like 330 USD and i was like...Crap i am Gonna regret this! i do realize that is pretty cheap and was like 10 dollars shipping. I work on my own guitars. so i felt i could at least make it better than what it was. and Maybe flip it? When it got here and i was Unboxing it . a few things were Lose and Falling off (Locking Nut retainers) so i did not have high hopes for the guitar. Long story short ....After a Small set up and tightening the Nut retainers. it is the BEST playing and easily tuned Guitar i have ever owned! Had no Neck Sprout....And was made in Indonesia. but a DREAM to play! I would not recommend a beginner to Purchase a Edge trim Style Ibanez ... But for people with the Skills. Was a great Investment especially seeing this Model Now sells for like 400 USD .... SO i do understand wanting a Guitar Model ....And seeing it online and Purchasing Sight unseen. it was disappointing for like 2 days until i got the Kinks worked out. and a set up ....after that. Have not put it down. it has been over a year..... And. Like you. YES. I am gonna Change the H,S,H pick ups and new Volume Pot and tone pot.

I already hate myself for wanting one of these and you've made it worse :). Nice demo and a fair review. I already have an RG 550 but that orange one with matching dots and reverse headstock is so rad.

Haha, Ibanez should really be paying me by this point! :-p
@alfredoverton96492 жыл бұрын
I am no fan of the reverse headstock. I supppose I am just used to the other way. Gotta tell you though, the RG550 Genesis are the nicest guitars going. I love mine. I whammy the hell out of it and it stays in tune. Also, I found that the whammy can be tightened by turning the input hole. It has grooves that act like a flathead slot. I think anyway. Love your videos.😬

that's how I tighten mine. wrap a cloth around it incase you slip 😱

FFFFFFFF RG550 = 9 RG565 = 11 that's how I'm looking at it now. I have a backorder at PMT for that violet RG550; but I might just go for this RG565. Though maybe I still need the RG550?

I was looking at grabbing one of these but it seems there are many QC issues, which is surprising from a Japanese guitar.

I've heard the frets on maple necked Ibanez (at least ones in recent years) are worse for some reason. I have an RG570 genesis which has a rosewood neck and the frets were, and still are, perfect. I've never owned a maple neck one to find out though.
@ACMusic2 жыл бұрын
Very odd isn't it? I love a maple neck, but they've never been this bad!!

You are not helping me with not buying one :D damn i have to many guitars.... maybe at the and of 2022 if i will do enough progress on the guitar... but you suprised me that you were thinking that this will sound different than stock rg550 genesis :)

the RG565 was in production for 2021 only; you'd better get one asap while supplies last.
@pyratoothNL2 жыл бұрын
Looks great! Surprised how hot the neck pickup is. Also a little shocked to hear about the MIJ quality though. I was blown away by how well finished the RG550 Genesis was. Talking of pickup tones, this is why I've been acquiring cheaper guitars and doing modifications including pickups to get different sounds. The neck pickup that impressed me the most up to now was the DiMarzio Gravity Storm, which has neck humbucker warmth for chords, but tightens up almost like a single coil for leads. It's full size, you couldn't use it as a replacement for a rail like the 565. You might want to look at the Joe Satriani pickup models for a rail neck replacement.
@ACMusic2 жыл бұрын
Yes I was completely clueless about the difference in sizes of rails vs singlecoils until recently. That would have been a real headache!

Surprised that frets needed leveling, that is unacceptable from Japan. You should not have have to pay to fix it they should have issued a return.

Yes, there were other elements that made my decision to have it fixed. Boring logistic stuff. At least it's ok now!!
