DowntownCanon I hear the locals first were excited, then irritated by the inconvenience of the on-location shooting. Wonder how they regard the experience in retrospect? Loved the novel, but this movie is one that exceeded my expectations. Casting, acting, locale, pacing, costumes, make-up...I grew up in the seventies in little ramshackle bungalows, but somehow I know that somewhere people lived exactly like this...Thank you, Mr. Lee and Mr. Friedberg!

The story was a powerful one but locations made the film especially memorable.

I saw the film in the theater when it came out --- in October, '97. We lived in a little suburb of Cincinnati that was based upon English towns. So we had a quaint arthouse movie theater in the center of town that we could walk to. This film had such an impact on me --- it blew me away. So much so that I remember distinctly the entire walk home after the movie, in the fall air which kind of matched the fall mood of the film, thinking about the film, and how great, and I mean GREAT, art can have such a strong effect on you. I've probably watched the film 40 more times since then. I watch it usually every November, when the fall mood hits me, and when I do I'll watch it 3 nights in a row.

I remember seeing Johansen's Bridge House in New Canaan for sale 10 years ago. I love the Gold Coast, and this film.

This movie about 1973 came out in 1997, 24 years later. That’s like a movie about 1997 coming out in 2021.

Sigourney Weaver became completely the denizen of the cold, cold house she lived in.

Johnson is famous, but that doesn't make Glass House brilliant. I have to disagree with you on that view. These homes are great. I knew people growing up in the '70's and '80s that were like these, and they were fantastic.
