I missed out on the FS700. One camera I wish I had owned at the time. I did own the VX2100, which was the non XLR/SDI version of the PD150 and the Z5 before eventually coming back to Sony with the FS7 and FS5 and finally the FX3

Still using an FS7 myself, besides it not having AF, all it's other features still hold up to current pro standards ☺️🤙

Just got my FX30 and watching this makes me appreciate more the design and characteristics of it.

cool vid! but the vx1000 (at 04:00 and other places) was not an XD Cam but the predecessor of the 150 etc. I think even consumer DV not even DVCAM. And I didn't see the following HDV series, which were the pro (non broadcast) solution for companies below the XD cam level for people who used the PD150 and wanted to upgrade to 25p HD on the cheap. Like me back in the day :)

We had two more or less beaten up PMW F3 for our first projects in school, it was a fun process playing with the picture profiles (cine2, cine4, etc.) during extensive prep and camera tests and trying to get the best out of it.

Nice line up. I started in the end of Beta when I entered the industry and played with many of these models. Still have my FS100 worked it to the digital bone to the point wasn’t worth selling. Sold a FS7 and FS5 went to a different manufacturer and then came back to Sony on my now FX9 and rent the Venice when I can. Overall. Find myself a Sony fan and love their innovated and very reliable products.

2:41 wasn’t sure if your VO about tapeless XDCAM was meant to imply this camera was in that line. This is a DSR-200

Currently still use the FS700 for all of my videos. It's a workhorse and I absolutely adore it.

I was there with U-matic in 1984, Betacam 1991, DVCAM 1998, then had Canon XLH1 in 2007 (tape, HDD, CFCard), again Sony HXR-NX5U in 2010, Canon 70D in 2013, Canon 5DIV in 2016, Pana GH4, GH5, G9 in 2017 and Canon FX30 in 2024. Quite a journey that swallowed a bunch of money changing formats, a few!...www.youtube.com/@CarloFerraro
