I'm in Baguio right now, which is in the mountains and it was nicely sheltered during the recent typhoon (Marce). We didn't even lose power. Just a little more rain than normal. Baguio has perfect weather 72 degrees F, +/- 10 Degrees all year round. So consider the cost of all year air conditioning in a coastal town before deciding where to settle down.

Just speaking from my experience, having been in Bayawan several times, it’s a very quiet place. Food wise there are really no Western restaurants to rave about. The cinema in the mall shows one (maybe two films) and is often closed I found. The boulevard is nice but for me there is very little to do if you live there. There is a gym that is extremely affordable with a/c. If you want somewhere really quiet with very few expats then maybe this may be a place for someone to retire in. Great video Gio and thanks for sharing!

How is the equipment and the weights in the gym? Also...is there a regular market, to get fish and chicken etc..? Thanks
@oncall2114 күн бұрын
@@karlenzmann yes there’s a market for fresh vegetables, meat, fish, etc. The gym is not that large but has lots of free weights and a couple of nautilus machines.

I have lived on the west coast of California, Hawaii and Oregon. I also lived on the east coast of Australia (no sunsets on the east coasts and are only on the north coast if you are on a peninsula that stretches into the sea). There is nothing like watching sunsets on the beach. Sunrises don't compare. Moving soon to the PH and will definitely live on either a southern or western tip of an island. Southern is awesome because you get both sunrises and sunsets on the water. Thanks for the video Gio.

I had the pleasure of visiting Bayawan twice around 2016, 2017. The sign post in the centre of town stated 101 klms to Dumaguete ...which is not much in the west, however, it can be a 2 hour plus drive. I liked the foreshore area ...very long. The first 711 store in town opened when I was there & that proved to be very popular. I use to wander around the city market. Bayawan also is a great jumping off place to visiting the mountains behind the coast. Cheers Gio & Maya.

Hi , im from the Uk , living in Capiz near Roxas City . Been spending most of my life here over the last 4 years. Anyway i decided to move here full time . I have a shipment in Cebu awaiting clearance . Just a word of caution to anyone sending their belongings to the Philippines , make sure you talk to the agent dealing with your crate well before it arrives at port. Here in the Philippines you can spend half your time , pulling your hair out , trying work out why the hell they like making things more complex than needed !.😂

Advocacy groups are available, United Philippine Amerasians is an advocacy group formed with the help of the NGO Wedpro. An Australian-led program is using DNA to track down foreign fathers of forgotten children born to sex workers in the Philippines. Most of the tens of thousands of these children have been raised in poverty and not received any acknowledgement or financial help. In 1982, the US Congress passed the Amerasian immigration act, giving preferential immigration status to Amerasian children born during the Vietnam war in Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. The Philippines remains forgotten.

Without changes, the trust fund is slated to be drained by 2033, which would result in an automatic 21% cut to beneficiaries' monthly checks. Don't count on the SSI Ponzi scheme. You should also have a pension and savings to retire. You also need a hedge against inflation and a dollar crash.
