Great video, but please be careful when making public videos that you compare Bible versions to get the better meaning and understanding of a Bible verse. 36:05 you mention Luke 14:26 and indeed the word "hate" is used in a lot of Bible versions. However, we know it's impossible for Jesus to instruct us to hate our parents because one of the 10 commandments literally mentions that we should honour our father and mother that it might be well with us and we may live long. 1John 3:15 says : "All who hate are murderers, and you know that murderers have not got eternal life in them. " So how can Jesus who gives us eternal life contradict the Word by telling us to hate our parents? This is why Bible study with at least 3 different versions (1 of the 3 should preferably be AMP) is very important, or we will look like people who serve a God who contradicts Himself. Please note, that the word "hate" Jesus uses in Luke 14:26 is actually "to love less than", not actual hatred. if you read that verse in AMP or GNBUK version it says : we cannot be Jesus' disciples unless we love Christ MORE than we love our family and our own lives. This correction comes from a place of love my sister❤

As a single Christian woman it has been EXHAUSTING in my own personal struggles with desiring marriage and having to wait or possibly remain single AND THEN being a part of Christian culture that seems to idolize marriage. On one hand us singles are told not to idolize marriage, etc etc., but all while we are constantly bombarded with sermon illustrations, ministries, jokes, and just the overall elevation of marriage within the church. Married peoole often get plugged in easier at church, recognized, and admonished for "being fruitful" and at least attempting to multiply lol I wish there were more leaders that would bring to light the actual benefits of being single and preach on ways to help singles stay away from things like porn, masturbation, and getting involved in toxic relationships, all while waiting and trying to follow Christ.

Baby marriage is HARDDDDDD. I get how you feel because I felt the same way. After 10 years, it’s been very taxing and emotionally exhausting at times BUT God. We are better but there is so much pain in it. Seriously. Not abuse! But growing together can be painful.

You spoke the whole Truth I pray Jesus Christ Yeshua God touch your heart mind body and soul by the holy blood of the Lamb. I've been on both sides and it is difficult because the enemy hates marriage and the enemy hates Godly singles so attacks come from all sides and even the church. The more we focus on God and his Son the better we are able to cope and be at peace even during the extreme struggles. Trust the Lord Jesus is able be still praise him and glorify Him. He will be there even if he feels far from you seek His Face in struggle and in joy.

The reason there are so many sermons on marriage is because so many married persons are struggling. So so so much struggle. Then you realize your spouse will never fill the desire you have within you. Christ and Christ alone satisfies. You have all you need right now.

@@werringertonney7489 nobody said that marriage wasn’t difficult. That’s a valid topic. However, we’re talking about the struggles of being single. many who are married and are in the relationship, especially in Christianity, don’t put enough emphasis or dismiss the difficulty of singleness and doing things the right way. There are MANY benefits to marriage that single people aren’t able to have.

Excellent video. As a woman married to an amazing man of God for the past 4 years, it's a daily reminder that the purpose of marriage is to glorify God and come together in service of the kingdom. The more we put our ego to the side and allow God to show us how to act and also how to treat each other, it's wonderful. Not easy, not perfect, but wonderful because we're in alignment.

Yes, marriage is a beautiful institution created by God. It brings God glory because it helps us to identify the relationship between Christ and His bride the CHURCH. That's why husbands are commanded to love our wives like Christ loves the church. And wives are subject to their husband's as the church is subject to Christ. If we truly understood the faithfulness of God husbands would strive to mirror this characteristic in godliness towards their wives. You can't have a good relationship with God and a horrible relationship with your spouse. You can't have an unfaithful relationship with your spouse and a faithful relationship with God. It's like the scripture says," You can't hate your brother who you see, but love God whom you have not seen." A pure and right relationship with God leads to a pure and right marriage with your spouse. For Life! As husbands we are also brides spiritually to Christ and therefore should understand the Scriptures so that we are leading our wives in modesty, virtue, righteousness and holiness. For the Lord is coming back for a bride without spot or wrinkle. And the bride is making herself ready for His return. This is why marriages are being destroyed. Satan hates marriage and what it represents. I wouldn't say marriage is an idol, but if you love your spouse more than The Lord then yes you have made them your idol. And God is a jealous God. I'm currently separated from my wife, but I was telling our kids I'm fighting for my wife and standing for reconciliation. I'm not married to that body, but to the one that inhabits it. I've gone past the physical connection to a much deeper spiritual connection. The TWO shall become ONE. I wish I was this man sooner, but growing up religious I thought I was saved though I was a gold medal sinner all of my teen and adult life. Thank God that godly sorrow led to my repentance and turning from sin to Him. Now I have a new mind in Christ Jesus and pray for restoration of my marriage. Until then I have a bridegroom in Jesus whom I'll serve without quitting or turning back. Many people love to speak on divorce and I understand in this world we can't control others. But I can relate to Paul so if she doesn't return I'm free to focus on just serving the Lord and presenting my body a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto Him. And this will not cease when she returns. This pain and suffering He allowed has helped me put to death the lust of my flesh, eyes and the pride of life. There is truly freedom in Christ. Sorry to leave such a long comment, but I want to encourage all to stand for your marriage and search the Holy scriptures and DO what it says and not only your marriage, but your life will be blessed if you are being conformed into the image of Christ so that you may be a light in this dark world. Take care and much love to you all!

I'm still told that I will get tired of my husband 😂😂😂😂they say things like this about their husband "I wish he would go somewhere" I'm not saying we've never disagree with each other but WE PUT GOD FIRST. We still enjoy and are thankful to God we are together. Our marriage is to glorify God.❤❤

For those of you that are a little apprehensive about the video.. I think the lesson/message here was that don’t let your desires rule your life or your relationship with God. Your walk with Jesus is more important than any earthly desire we have. When our desires become idols we become disobedient to God, willing to bend our convictions, and make decisions solely based on acquiring the desire.

I’m actually shocked that this comment section is giving so much pushback. It really shows the level of insecurity and immaturity of a lot of the people who heard the message as a way to prevent people for getting something they only THINK they are ready for. There is more to marriage than simple companionship, more to parenthood than just having a baby. Many of these people are NOT ready.

@@seekinghimdaily92- Yes and No. Where people are truly convicted by the Spirit, your point is valid. Where people ( like me ) wonder where exactly a marriage "goes too far" or where one thinks about one's partner/marriage "more than God". Is deep passion, great romance, abundant sex with one's partner then judged as "idolatrous"? Then, no, I disagree with your point that anyone who asks such questions "really shows the level of insecurity and immaturity" in questions for clarity. I was taught that a husband is to love his wife like Christ loved the Church, i.e. He even went to the point of great suffering and death! LoL. It seems here that if a man did that, he'd be judged as being "idolatrous". See what I mean? There are good questions to get greater clarity, pushback, etc.

@@machtnichtsseimannhello! Thanks for your comment. If your intention is to clarify, then let me clarify (even though I thought it was clear in the video)… I mention Song of Solomon. I say the Bible is full of romance. I am not judging anyone for idolatry. I am not the Judge. There is one judge and He is God. This message is shining the light of God’s word to expose our hearts. I never said a husband who lays down his life for his bride is idolatrous. In fact, I actually quoted that Bible verse!a husband loving his wife sacrificially is a beautiful picture of Christ loving His bride. This video is not a judgement on anyone . “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1 If anyone watching this experiences conviction, I encourage them to bring those thoughts/feelings to Jesus and let Him examine their heart. My great-grandmother, she's not my actual great-grandmother but my great-aunt. We all called her our grandmother because she's the one we grew up with. She was never married or in a relationship. She used to say her husband is God and she has us for kids (5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren). Till this day I have not seen a woman live for The Most High like she did, her entire life revolved around him. She lived a long happy and healthy life until 107 years old. She's the one who made me understand a man is not needed to be whole. As long as God is with us, it is possible to feel whole and loved

Leah was so loved by God that God brought Judah forth from her, and as we know King David descends from the tribe of Judah, and, of course, ultimately our true King, Jesus descends from this tribe. This is my first time here and I loved everything you presented! I had a moment in my mid 20s where I looked around at my life and realized I wasn’t where I THOUGHT I should be. I remember saying I wanted to be married with 2 kids by 25. I had neither a house or a husband and no kids at 26, and part of me felt behind because a lot of my peers were in that exact place in their lives. Fast forward a little bit and I was sitting one day, again, thinking about where I was in life and feeling like nothing had changed. I said a prayer that was something along the lines of, “God, whatever you have for me will be for me, and that’s what I want. If I am to be married, I’ll be married. If I am to have kids, I’ll have them. If I’m not to be married or have kids, I’m okay with that too. Help me to be at peace with whatever Your plan is for me.” And I left it at that. Another 2 or so years later I met a man, who is now my husband. We got married in August 2023. He has a son from a previous relationship and I am learning to be a step mom and I feel content with everything. God’s plans for us most of the time will NOT look like what we envision our lives to look like. We have to be careful not to miss out on what He has done us because it’s not what we think it should be. ❤

This was so good and something that not enough people teach on. The Holy Spirit checked me about 3 months ago and told me that I had made idols of my marriage and husband. My spirit was so grieved because I assumed that I was honoring God by honoring my husband, but instead I had raised an altar to my marriage. In fact, I had made idols of pleasing people period, which led me deep into perfectionism and frustration as a result of never being able to be perfect. In His love and mercy, God really began removing the scales from my eyes, and He just comforted me and corrected me like only He can. For the first time ever, I truly learning that God is really more than enough, and He's so worthy of our praise and devotion.

@crystalgarry2507 4 ай бұрын
@@hiyori2846 Absolutely. We are to serve God and GOD ONLY. Now, as wives, we have been instructed to submit to our husbands; we have certain responsibilities in the martial union. However, we do our work (not just in marriage, but in everything) as unto the Lord. We put our trust in God, the Creator, and not in the creations. We must love God, our Provider, more than we love what He provides. Our worship belongs to God alone. I have learned, from experience, that when we put anything or anyone in God's place, He will remove that thing or person so that He is put back in His rightful place.

Really needed this. Almost 45 with a 22 year old son, engaged twice by 25 yet have never been married. Stopped dating for years and became celibate and rededicated my life to the Lord. Recently I went through a situation that lasted nearly three years where I finally thought the one had come - I waited 42 years for him but it turned out to be a lie. Like your 49 yr old friend I'm beginning to ask the hard questions, one being, Lord do I even have a one? Because I don't know anymore, especially after this latest thing I waited so long for. I'd thought my idolization of marriage was over years ago but now I wonder. Not because of this video but because of what I just walked through and all it's revealed to me. But I know God is good and He's delivered me through so much and if it's His will to have me single for life, then I know He'll make a way and provide. Through many hard situations He's never allowed my son and I to become homeless even when it looked like we would. Unfortunately the church can kind of idolize marriage too and when I became a single parent at age 22 I know what it's like to have people try to push it on you, or ask years later if you're married before even asking how you're doing as a person. Just know if you're over 35 or 40 and not married, you're more than a marital status, you're a person made in the image of God. These types of reactions from people make us feel less adult, less womanly and generally less worthy than our married counterparts but we're not. I had to walk through forgiving these people for some of their reactions as well. Again, thank you for posting. Was definitely meant to come into my feed today as I'm not even a subscriber but after this I probably will be.

What also annoys me is that even in churches and some Christian influencers, marriage is preached more than teaching people how to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Teaching about marriage is important, but I think teaching about ‘walking as dearly loved children, walking wisely redeeming the time, walking in love’ (married or not) can build our faith in the Lord.

This was a good video. Difficult to hear but much needed…I question if accepting my singleness is accepting God’s will or is a lack faith or patience that I will be married one day. I have prayed that God removes the desire for marriage if it isn’t in His will. And I also question why God would place a desire on my heart if it wasn’t in His will. It’s a constant struggle. But I am grateful that I can pray to God and ask Him for comfort. And I am grateful for the scriptures you shared today. Praying for all the other women longing for marriage and children that we accept that God’s Grace is enough to fulfill those desires.

I'm glad that you ask Him for comfort. Please keep talking to Him. And don't stop sharing your story, either. I wish you the best. May His will for your life be done! These scriptures may or may not be helpful for you: "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" Jeremiah 17:9 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24

A problem I see that’s not discussed is how do we feel the love of God? If it’s really true that his love is greater, why am I on my knees begging him to remove my desire for marriage and trying to feel his presence?!?!? I feel nothing while reading scripture, nor during worship. I just want him to talk to me and I only get radio silence. 😡😡😡😡 it doesn’t help that all these churches make long standing ovations anytime someone gets engaged, marries, or has another kid. Where’s the ovation for the people honoring God in singleness for decades?? All these people say singleness is just as good as marriage (or better) but they sure don’t believe it. All these churches, offer marriage counseling groups, marriage fellowship nights, free childcare, but when you ask about singles group they’re like “huh? Nah we don’t need that”.

You are spot on about the inconsistencies. The 21st century church needs an attitude adjustment regarding its views on both celibacy and marriage. For starters we should say "celibate" instead of single because the latter has been co-opted by the world to apply to ungodly lifestyles. Those who are single but not celibate should be told to repent. Married people should stay married. There are ways celibates could serve God better than their married counterparts, but churches don't offer them opportunities to do so.

I have NEVER NEVER cried so much watching anything, ever. I have idolized this very thing and this has been confirmation amongst many other confirmations this week. God is leading me to go into relationship/marriage with Him. I woke up so uneasy I’ve been in my prayer room since 7:01 it is now 12:14! And the Holy Spirit has lead me into truth and confirmation with this very thing I’ve been struggling with my entire life! My Lord, I hear you I wholeheartedly want to be obedient to what you are calling me out of and into. Search me o God! and know my heart and my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you and lead me along the path of everlasting life (Psalms 139:23-24) Let me worship you Lord and let me not desire being married more than desiring your love Lord.

3/1/2024 8:47 pm The moment the Lord and I said our vows. Apparently, He wants me all to himself ☺️. Thank you for your obedience and for being brave and bold enough to make this video. I know I don’t speak for myself when I say that this word confirmed what some of us already knew in our hearts but weren’t ready to accept. I knew in my heart that I wanted to get married because I’ve never had a man on earth who loved me - family or in a relationship. I guess I wanted to know what it was like to be loved by a human man before I kicked the bucket. But I knew that probably wasn’t going to be my story but I idolized the possibility. But My Beautiful Lord has set me aside for himself and that’s more than I could have ever dreamed of. It was only a few years ago that I believed He could never want me at all and He came and got me from the hell I was living in. I am grateful beyond words that He chose me to save and loves me so much 💜🥰. So if He wants me to Himself, who am I to complain 🤷🏽‍♀️. If anyone knows a good woman, it’s Him 💪🏽👸🏽👰🏽‍♀️🥰 4/1/24 10:47 pm It’s our 1 month anniversary yall and I’ve never felt more loved and secure in myself and a relationship than now. He’s given me everything I was looking for - Love, Security and Support 💜😍.

This is definitely a thing in society... and I definitely struggled with this my whole life and just realizing it lately. That's why I hear about people saying "you meet someone when you least expect it" even though I think it's nonsense, it's true that you have to be happy being single, you can't expect marriage to rescue you from your problems. You're just going to bring problems into your marriage and pass it to your kids.

Totally agree on not idolizing it before God...BUT ALSO, let's not mistake and try to eradicate that genuine heart cry and desire. I strongly believe that the desire and yearning for marriage especially, if we have it, is something from God that he wants to use to bring us to him in those deeply vulnerable parts of our being. Like, don't obsess over and put it on a pedestal before God in your life....but DO allow it to be there, get on your knees and real with God about it...put it on the altar. Careful not to mistake this God given passion for idolatry.

exactly!! It is not sinful to desire marriage, but God doesn't want that desire to take place over a desire for Him. ❤️ I totally agree to be real with God! Let Him know (He already knows anyway) and lay it down again- and again- and again! Only God knows if the passion has become an idol.. we must seek Him. But I agree- the desire for marriage is not a bad thing we just gotta give it to Him.

Thank you for this. I married twice. Both times looking back I can see they were for the wrong reasons. I agree with you the single life is better. All my friends who are married currently in the year 2024 are inundated with the busy busy life. Endless children's entertainment and a full time job. They desperately try to keep up appearances , some don't even bother. It's maddening. A question was asked of single women particularly, on Facebook, and what it was like being single. The over riding message is that their lives were peaceful. These responses weren't the feminist independent woman. Just women who after a while realised they were ok. Their lives were not troubled. I am currently alone, but I'm not lonely. I miss the intimacy of a lover, but realise these desires are natural. I am committed to Christ. My circumstance will only change if he says so. It ent worth it. It is rough out there.

As someone who has been struggling with idolatry this is so good though my idol was not marriage I found this video to be very useful to me I am watching it for the second time and I had never really read Hosea and went ahead and read it after watching your video and it was the reality check I needed. God is letting us know he was the one who covered them, took good care of them and they went and served something that yields no blessings or salvation so God goes ahead and shows them that the idols will never be enough. It’s like Romans chapter 1 when God gives them over to their Lusts, it’s like he is saying if that’s what you love more than me then I will let it consume you and eat you whole. Truly powerful!!! I have been forced the past couple of weeks to have honest conversations with God on why I have relied on things that have hurt me more than helped me and slowly but surely I am being released from these strongholds. Thank you so much for this video I really needed it and will be coming back to it often.

I can honestly say I have never struggled with the idolatry of marriage but I have struggled with negative ideas about it but this is just me being transparent. I believe this has been shaped by the idea of struggling through a marriage. However, I’m also leaning struggles will happen eventually but when you’re yoked with the wrong one this adversity and trials most times are brought on by our own actions as with any season we face. But how you laid it out makes soo much sense .

I don't know if it's true idolatry or that we are in a world in a superficial community but our spirit still longs for a true genuine and physical connection. The entire Bible is about Yah/Yeshua trying to get his bride. Most women I know are past the party phase and desire to find a mate to help and be helped. I also noticed that it's its married vloggers that put out this type of content. We are supposed to desire marriage it was literally in the beginning and end of the bible. I also don't think Paul shouldn't be the go-to. This was his OPINION. "In my judgement" This was not from the lips of the Father.

I agree with you. We have to determine if our personal circumstance is true idolatry. And that’s why I commented that accepting singleness can either be accepting God’s will or giving up and saying’ “I guess this is it.” I think finding joy while being single is why this message is important. But there is a difference between desiring marriage and idolizing it.

Wonderfully said and agreed with this thread. I too struggle with jumping back and forth with the idea of desiring marriage because I see the benefits of it and I want to be the one in my family that break this curse of prior failed marriages but also take a step back and wonder if it’s idolatry or the longing is so deep because as mentioned before we do live in a superficial society that doesn’t value genuine connection. In the end, overall good content and she has dropped another gem that wrecked my soul lol. As of now I’m working on being content with being single and possibly not being married at all as long as I’m aligned with God’s will for my life. The gifts he’s placed in me and the tasks he’s assigned to me in this season brings me more than enough fulfillment at the moment and I’m happy about it.

@@onlyHEknowsme as a young single Christian woman, I totally understand what you’re saying. It can be disheartening, but you also have to understand like this woman said in the video that they were married people who are in the wrong type of marriages. Sometimes the marriages we may look at and one for ourselves based off of what we see on the outside. It’s not all Rosie behind closed doors. And many of those people that you see that they be married entered into those types of marriages through the idolatry. They rushed into it, got desperate and ended up marrying a thorn onto their flesh think about it, how many Christian women do you see constantly saying, or asking for advice on Advice for how to pray for their wayward husbands. Many of whom would professed to be Christians themselves. It’s not to say that a Christian should be perfect because no one can be. But many of those women they rushed because of idolatry of marriage and they ended up marrying wolves. In sheep clothing I think that regardless of whether the messenger is married, is still worth listening to.

Thank you for this. You’re a great teacher. The Holy Spirit was speaking through you. This made me cry and get upset a bit. But I trust that it’s going to be well with me. I hope to experience His love and be content with just Him and His love. All my life I have felt so unloved, majority of my life has been isolation either being abandoned by my parents, loss, being betrayed by friends or lovers, being rejected, not being chosen. Recently I’ve been going through a hard time due to unforeseen circumstances and I’ve been thinking things would be easier if I had at least one true friend, or a family member that really cared for me or a partner that actually loved me and I have been asking God to allow me to meet my kingdom spouse so I guess this was Him showing me that I was making that an idol. I just want at least one person in my life I can rely on and that loves me. I have been praying to have a revelation of His true love so it takes all the pain away and I hope He does so. Even though this was hard to watch I’m glad that I came across this video it’s taught me alot. God bless.

First time viewer...thank you for this video/commentary. The title alone struck a chord with me...there was a time, a season, when I didn't know that I was idolizing marriage, but I entered every relationship believing naively that it'd result in marriage. I was consumed with getting a ring, the dress, the pics, the status, the kids, the showers and gifts. And God never let it happen. And He blessed me to live and grow past it, understanding in maturity the demands and sacrifices associated with marriage. It's two real lives, not just for public appearances, but a covenant that is intended to glorify God. My ego had me pursuing self uplifting status to satisfy a deep rooted need to be loved. Believing that a man would validate me, a husband would fill in all my gaps. Not fully understanding that top spot is for God and for God only. We often say, Thank You God for the things I prayed for and never got! It took me a while to get this out of my spirit, lusting after marriage, the ceremony, the vacation pics, and all the things that feed the flesh. These kinds of teachings are important for our youth to understand first and foremost to love God and no one is supposed to come before Him. To understand that ANYTHING can be an idol. Your beauty, your lineage, your finances, your athletism, your talent, your organizations, your children, etc... Don't let Satan pervert what God has given us to humbly go through this life as pilgrim's traveling to the next life. Don't get me wrong...my heart still aches, my days/nights still get lonely, some days a really need a hug, but I am comforted even in my discomfort that God knows and God sees. Thank You Jesus!! You are enough!! Please visit these channels for understanding about the church (singular) that Jesus built Matthew 16:18: Herb Evans North Colony church of Christ Palm Beach Lakes church of Christ

Thank you!

This was soooo good. I love how God used you to deliver this message it was timely and I love the scripture references to support the message. I am definitely in repentance for putting so much emphasis on marriage
