Because image forms at C is real and inverted. That's why magnification is -1 - or +sign tells whether image is inverted or erect. Always remember when magnification is negative image forms real and inverted And when magnification is positive image forms virtual and erect. Number shows the size of image Equal to 1 means same size image More than 1 means enlarged image Less than 1 means smaller image
