This was it. This was likely the battle that broke the Nazi’s back in the East. It took tremendous sacrifice from all around the Soviet Union, but it ultimately saved their people from a genocide.

The Battle of Kursk was the largest tank engagement of all time. The soviet Union lost between 6000 and 7000 Tanks in that Battle. In general russia produced more than 50000 t34 medium tanks in the war and lost about 44000 of them during the war which is a percentage of about 74%. With that you can clearly see the russian doctrine in comparison to the German of that time.

Well, compared to the Allied resources, Germany had a shortage of basically everything, even manpower. Let's say they built another 6000 Pz IV's instead of Tiger 1 and 2. Okay, everything's fine, but what men are going to operate them? The Soviets, on the other hand, could afford to build and lose as many tanks as they needed to win. Germany's focus on quality above everything else was the only way they could still have a chance.

@@cristianroth8524 Sorry it’s 2 years later, BUT! Not Russians, but soldiers of the Soviet Union. For the best example, the T34 tank was created in Kharkov, Ukraine or the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (at that time). Now Russian Soldiers are shelling KAB Kharkov....

too imagine this kind of battle you just must be clear of what paton said in that war, too kill 1 german tank you need too sacrifice 9 shermans ( crews included ) the 10th sherman then can take out one german tank. thats how the war was in reality. from the sovjetunion it was even more desprate, they needed 20 t34 too take out 1 german tank. thats why the deaths on the allies side and the sovjet side where so high in comparison too the germans. the german tanks just one shoted the allies and sovjet tanks back then, thats why you need too sacrifice so much for it. the war was won with overwhelming numbers not with the best technologie by the allies and sovjets. while the allies and sovjets could lose millions of soldiers and material, the germans could not every men lost was something they could not replace equaly. thats what people usually do not understand.

The only downfall germany faced was the winter conditions now if they invaded in the spring or summer time it could have been a different story all together when Germany invaded they did not realize how brutal that winter was going to be and it was harsh some say it was a mini ice age starting thats how cold it was for both sides

@@tylerbuckley2092 At the start of German invasion Soviet Union had outdated equipment and weaponry while also losing a solid part of production power due to migration of it away from front lines. That gap was filled with Lend-Lease and most people in Russia still don't give a proper credit to that either. Cheers from Urals
