Can't wait for this to be fully released. I'm still blown away that it's a one man show. One more title you guys should keep your eye on if you don't already know about it is Hark The Ghoul. It's a dungeon crawler with immersive sim elements that currently has a demo out. It looks like King's Field meets Dark Messiah, a combination I didn't know I wanted until now!

The idea behind a secret passage in the dungeons is that it is generally gonna be the last place the intruders go looking for hostages when breaking in to assassinate someone. Although, like the guard in oblivion says, these cells aren't supposed to ever actually have prisoners assigned to them.

the dev *really* needs to put enemy hit feedback into the game. smashing in someone's skull only for them to not react at all or even flinch is *LAME*

There's some hit feedback (dudes can get stunned and kicked over etc) and a hitstop option exists in the settings. But this still needs a bit of tuning. Likely on the list for later updates

Another RPG I can recommend is another indie called Gedonia. The first is another one person game. It feels like Oblivion mixed with Old School RuneScape with cool skill trees. He is now working on a sequel and has a small team this time! Steam has a demo right now.

Slash direction in Ultima Underworld was determined by *which part of the viewport your cursor was over.* Holding the button for longer increased damage, but it didn't change the type of attack, AFAIK.

Movement was also bound to the cursor window in UA so the basic point still stands 🙂🙂

@@2HeadedHero - Well, the "basic point" mentioned in the video was that the type of attack was determined by "what direction your character is moving in". But in fact you can perform the various attacks while standing still, and you can move the character in one direction using the keyboard while clicking anywhere on the viewport. So, attacks were _not_ "determined by what direction your character is moving in".

Go check out The Wayward Realms, the spiritual successor to Daggerfall (TES 2). Small indy company that is again like Daggerfall, will be breaking the mold for first person RPGs. The early access is supposed to be bigger than Skyrim. Did I mention they are using the Unity 5 engine?

this felt like a paid ad. You should almost never buy early access. the greatest sin of that game is how its structured you basically need to invest in fighting melee making all other atributes and skills useless and pray you get reset skills later on.

I dunno man, I've bought plenty of games that were official releases that I ended up regretting cough "diablo 4". I've put about 50 hours into pantheon Rise of the fallen...love it...early access. Ashes of creation...love it..early access. Path of exile 2...can't wait..early access. Nothing wrong with buying games in early access.
