Absolutely brilliant interview! As an actor I learnt so much and will add this to my arsenal. Thank you for this. I look forward to listening to many more interviews just like this.

Thanks. I plan to have another one of these interviews with a script consultant, talking about dialogue in the next 2 weeks.

At the 15 min mark and the climbing of a tree: Isn't that from "A Separate Peace"? I read the 1958 book when I was younger than Tyler now, and saw the 1972 film twice. "Phinney" climbs the tree and eventually there is a tragic result. (John Fish ought to pick this work for his book club!)

I'm not aware of this book. Nor seen the film.

I’m a subscriber, I think you have good ideas about structure and conflict. But it’s so hard to take you seriously when you level blanket critiques on whole genres of movies you don’t even watch.
