I suffered with my metal health from being in lockdown or isolation for 24 months had sessions over the phone which sort of helped still suffering with it. I also let myself go with self care. I suffer with serve Rheumatoid arthritis in 90-95% of body had 2 small strokes lost my short term memory have trouble saying things and writing/ typing spelling and when read everything get jumbled together. The RA ate my right knee away so had two replacements can’t have any more next stage is amputation above kneed had 50 plus operations also copd emphysema and just recently I found out Ive had TB. I’m also guilty of putting others first and regularly go with out food so wife and son can eat. I was talking to the walls and they were answering me I can’t sleep due to pain my fingers turn 90 degrees outwards and use a wheelchair. I can hide it well if I’m out that my worst problem I’m sort of getting there very slow. I think I’m going backwards more. I overdoses on pain killers. And thanks you show great courage in this video

@@Hand-i-Craft cheers Leo and like you it takes a lot of courage to come to terms with it and a lot more to tell someone about it. I had it bottled up for 36 years since my dad died when I was 22 and I blame myself for it I would recommend face to face than over the phone like I had didn’t do much for me but could work for someone else Heers Leo

Thank you for being open about this. We really appreciate it!! I’ve lost 2 careers, one from an accident and the other from cancer. I’ve only recently started to take care of my mental health. Hearing stories from people like you makes it easier for me to take another step and keep moving forward. We are with you!

Thanks for putting this up, mate. We met at Makers Central, and I told you then that woodworking was my therapy. I've been suffering with my mental health recently, and haven't even trusted myself in my shed. Men need to get out of this idea of "being strong." Thank you for talking about this. I can't get over how much what you said resonates with me. Take care.

The normalization of mental health conditions will only occur when enough people talk about it freely. I applauded your openness and honesty, it will help someone out there. Sorry to hear you had been struggling of late. But glad you’re moving in the right direction. Take care.

Nice one pal, appreciate it. I know my platform to speak about any issue is only small, but if it can help a handful of folk then it will be well worth it ❤️👍

Hi Leo, tough subject, I think particularly with men and the 'man up' philosophy. Social media and KZbin has a big effect on my mental health but as I'm a KZbinr and content creator it's hard to avoid 😂 I too have taken a break from KZbin for most of this year and it's very difficult to get back into it. If you ever want to meet up and have a pint 🍺 and a chat I'm only down the road. 👍🏼

Nice one Rob, yes it’s been difficult trying to get back in front of the camera after a break, but I guess it’s like that in many walks of life. Take care pal, Leo 😀👍

Well said my friend. I wasn't in a grest place with my mental health a few years ago so I managed to step back and take time for me. It's one of the hardest things I've ever had to do but I'm so glad I did. As you said, the hardest things is opening up to your nearest and dearest, knowing they've got their own issues. Well done for putting this out there and also for taking time off for yourself...and Pam! Take care mate.

Leo I agree with your statement about as a society we ignore or blank out these problems more so as men as we feel society expects us to" man up" I personally had a bad time 30 years ago and a friend could see that and sat down with me and fixed me she is now my wife as they say it's good to talk

Hi Leo, it’s really good to see you back. Thank you for posting this video, it can’t be easy to be this open, but the chat and advice you give is priceless, both for anyone with mental health issues and for anyone caring for someone with these issues. And although I think my mental health is pretty robust, you just never know when this might change, and the advice to act and engage early is the take home message for me. Take care and I look forward to your next video, whatever it’s about! Rob.
