this film is just a whole other level of creativity, talent and intelligence. The acting was phenomenal and not using cgi for everything really gave it that realistic feel, making it hard to watch in some scenes. I wish more films were made like this instead of relying so heavily on cgi; yes cgi is a very handy and an amazing development in the industry but there's just something about seeing it actually come to life that makes the film even better overall. This is true movie magic.

Props to the special effects team for making the tsunami scene look as realistic as possible. It absolutely took my breath away when I saw it in the movie theater for the first time and it almost felt like being there when the waves hit. The rest of the movie is brilliant too, superb acting by everyone made for a truly gripping movie based on the biggest natural disaster in recent times.

There is something to be said about using miniatures as opposed to relying solely on CGI. The SFX in this movie looked real. So real I was searching for videos to see how they did it.

Agree! We looked it up because I was convinced they were practical effects and my friend said it would be too dangerous and they were CG.

After watching this film on that night. The very next day at exactly 8:22 am in cebu, philippines. Earthquake happens. Edit: that's why on that night watching this film is that its very heavy in the chest to watch. Very heavy, so weird, diff. feeling when watching tragedy movies.

Pau Costa Thank you for your answer! I thought all the flood scenes were CGI when i was seeing the movie. Then I saw this video, and I was amazed. What you guys did back there is really something!! and i have one more question.To shoot the scene where the whole hotel village was flooded, did you guys only have one shot?

The Tsunami scene in the movie: ‘The Impossible’ (2012) (along with the Tsunami in ‘Hereafter’ (2010) has to be the most: chilling, realistic tsunami scene I’ve ever seen in a movie. There is no musical score whatsoever, it’s all complete happenstance, as your just watching all those innocent people mothers, fathers, children old men and women just get obliterated by the tsunami, as it destroys everything in its path. Just watching those innocent people get swept by the wave as they scream in agony as they get swept through the debris and bushes underwater. You can literally feel almost everything in this scene.The Impossible (2012) and ‘Hereafter’ (2010) are the most realistic tsunami scenes i have ever seen in a movie.
@melaniatrumpet78948 жыл бұрын
no wonder all of the actor's acting felt real coz they really shoot the film with the set they built that mimics whats happening in a tsunami(not just a pure cgi - then tell the actors "okay pretend theres a big wave coming from your back, now jump to the pool")
