I saw them perform in a small theater at Syracuse Univ. in "72(?). The stage-with all their myriad instruments-was brimming with whimsical artifacts, fabric, rugs. It was all very magical and the artistic epitome of all the good parts of those times. When they all first walked out, it was a moment I'll never forget. Their enthusiasm for the music, the thought-and-heart-provoking lyrics, and the joyful theatrically of it all has affected my worldview to this day. ...poignantly reminiscing.

I had a fortunate incident in around 2007. Went to see the ISB in Birmingham and spent the evening chatting and having a few drinks with Mike, his wife, Clive and their musicians (of whom I know not). Very very very great people and... Well, I'm really glad they Are. Hello Mike and all. Hope you are all fine. I love your music. @ Butterybuscuits... You may not know me yet. ISB are HOPE (thats what it sounds like to me). Thank you Robin, Mike and All. Girls sound great.

Thanks so much for that, Doc.. I met Mike briefly in the late 70's when Heron were playing to about ten people in the Birmingham Hippodrome and he was as gracious then as he was over twenty years later, in the Inverness Hootenanny playing to a packed pub with an ISB of sorts, God bless him. Quite why Scotland has not raised a statue as big as the sky to these two is one of those questions that really make you wonder; all this fucking guff about Celtic Connections and yet the String Band wrote, played and popularised riffs, reels AND ragas and remain prophets without honour in their own land.

+Ishmael Smith Love your idea yes why hasn't Scotland raised a statue as big as the sky to the ISB? They of course might reply that anything will eventually be "gone like snow on the water" in the end. But that's in the end! We got to enjoy NOW!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just finished watching all three parts. I was just a few years to young (and a continent away) to have participated in all of this. By the time I found the ISB, they were already no more. I know nobody personally who loves their "work" like I do. Looks like 4,154 others as of the current viewing count do too ♥ I SOOOO wish I could have seen them live back then - seriously - so much!
