Unsurprisingly, it is a very nice review. I skipped the story part to avoid spoilers but as a whole each part was well detailed. Reading the collectibles could seem unnecessary, but it was of great help to illustrate your point about the atmosphere of hopelessness and regret. As you said, it's truly tragic that so few will get to enjoy the seemingly great soundtrack of this game. The combat appears to be quite interesting. The limited roster simplify the decision of who to deploy. You just deploy all of them, all the time. The follow-up system and the option to defend or not are also particularly noteworthy. On the official site of the game, it says: "There is some degree of randomness in the stats increase when leveling up". Since you only have 5 characters, surely they can't really get RNG screwed,right?

As far as I experienced the stat distribution went the way I needed it to. Also I thought it were fixed because Urs did not gain a single point in faith the entire playthrough. One of the enemies does magic damage and your magic defense is based on your faith. They’re super dangerous but he does have an axe that gives him 5+ to faith when equipped. I hope you can find some time for this game in the future, even if it’s way later I’d like to hear what you think about the gameplay after giving it a go.

Oh well, looks like I'll have to find out for myself. It's probably fixed enough that none of your characters can end up completely useless.They all have to pull their weight, except maybe Sarah. Just kidding, I'm sure I can find a use for her. And yes, I will share my thoughts about the gameplay eventually. We could also compare our characters endgame stats, to see if it can vary or not.

I loved Ender Lilies and it took a double digit subscriber youtuber to bring this game to my attention. Marketing failed this game way hard. Solid video btw, I'll sub for it.

Yup! Though I'll be waiting for it to come out of early access, lot of games on my backlog that I'm working through. And you really did do a good job with this video. Fire emblem in the title was likely what put it in my recommended, and I enjoy a good video essay on a good video game. Heck, added this one to the wishlist, but, again, long backlog haha

i´m a huge fire emblem fan but I like the character supports and the theme of war between humans (even tho there is a dragon behind all of it most of the time) still I don´t feel interested in monsters raiding humans

I think the idea of a “greater evil” bringing together unlikely allies can be interesting. In a situation where death is looming I feel like you get to see the extremes of emotions and feelings. I think forgiveness plays a huge role here. Forgiving others and oneself in the wake of mutual destruction. Or maybe I’m just talking out of my ass. If you like themes of war between humans, have you played Triangle Strategy? It might be up your alley.
