Great retrospect of the show but the title is very misleading as I wanted to know if something happened I did not know..shameful click bait.

I'm a teacher that specialized in dealing with students similar to Sheldon. I recognized his quirkuness quickly. It was the first time I was able to laugh in the situation. I learned a new appreciation for my students. It became my mission to uplift them rather than to "fix" them. It gave me hope for their futures. I shared the CDs of the first year with one particular student and his mom told me of his delightful response. " That's me" I think it was the first time he saw himself in a positive, strong light.

I’m an old lady, but I loved the BB and still watch reruns. Parsons is a fabulous actor, the writing was fantastic, but my favorite character is Amy. She is a great actor and her comedic acting was so subtle.

Another departure from usual sitcom finale tropes is how, instead of the ensemble characters leaving for a myriad of reasons, like Raj returning to India, Leonard getting a new job, or stuff like that they ended it with them all together in the living room of main apartment. It wasn’t an end to their lives as a family, it was merely the end of us getting a peak into their lives.

Such a great show! And while Sheldon was a hugely popular, unique character, I think it was the combination of characters that was the heart of the show. I believe you put far too much emphasis on Sheldon, and don't give the other stars enough respect. I think that the four boys and Penny had the best on-screen chemistry of any 5 actors in tv or movie history! As much as I miss seeing new episodes, I'm glad the Big Bang Theory ended the way it did, because the loss of any of the original 5 would have been huge. Glad they went out together on a high note!

I can understand the way you can get when you lose a pet that was more than a pet to you. It’s like having a family member pass. You don’t get over it any time soon. I Will remember this show as being one of the great ones, comparing to All in the Family, Happy Days,That 70’s Show and others.Young Sheldon is a great show as well. I miss seeing new shows but I love the reruns.

It was the best show. I feel like I grew up alongside the cast and actually cried as I laughed and watched the last episode! It was magic and changed our culture in so many great ways. The Big bang Theory made science cool once again and gave a generation permission to geek out and be their authentic selves! What a gem and gift to American culture! 🙏🏻

This was by far the funniest sitcom that I have ever seen. I love how the cast connected with each other, and showed their loving playfulness and snarky remarks, yet also teaching lessons along the way about life. Parsons was the a pitta me of a genius with Aspbergers, or high functioning autism, even though the show never truly connected with that. I will probably binge watch the show for a long, long time!❤️

In Australia the first episodes were relegated to a grave yard time of around 1 or 2am. It had yet to attract an audience. Probably the programmers didn't know what to do with it, or anticipate the appeal. When I first saw it back then I knew it had great potential due to its quirky characters, witty dialogue and original ideas.

It's interesting that in it's first season, the original storyline was supposed to be - and was, for awhile - the story of a geeky nerd (Leonard/Galecki) and his pursuit and relationship with the hot, sexy, socially outgoing partygirl (Penny/Cuoco). Sheldon/Parsons was primarily the "straight man". And in the early episodes, Howard/Helberg and Raj/Nayyar were very much bit players used to expand the number of comedic opportunities and make fun of some of the ridiculous things the internet had introduced to Society (MGTOW's, a bit of incel, and echo chambers of every kind that the web had made possible) but they were all so good - including the writers, that there were no real limits to the storylines as both the writers and the actors could perform even difficult nuances, which many actors simply can't do.

Honestly I always thought the main character was Leonnard ... He has made the bridge between the "normal" world and the geek/nerd world and he gets the girl :-) And I thought the show was mainly about the struggle to balance his annoying super special needs roommate (but old friend) and the real world

I am British and remember someone on a television documentary here a while back stating that William Shakespeare's efforts would not work on US television, because his plays had (mostly) different names and characters and, if his plays had indeed moved on to US television, he would somehow have needed to combine threads about Macbeth in Scotland, Romeo & Juliet in Italy etc into one storyline, because the effort (and cost) in launching TV shows in the US is enormous. While I enjoyed the first three or four series of The Big Bang Theory, I felt it became a bit repetitive after that and the actors seemed to have become a bit too old for the roles they were playing. The fact that it limped through to a twelfth series surprised me. One thing that wasn't mentioned in this rather saccharine review was that only the actors playing Sheldon, Penny and Leonard were paid big bucks for most of the run ($500,000 an episode if you believe the rumours). By the time of the final series, all of the main characters were being paid the same as the three I mentioned. That sounds like a good reason for costs to severely reduce the profits (or maybe turn it into a loss-maker).

My comment is short and direct... This comedy works worldwide. Brits could follow the mirth and storylines as easily as the American audience. This is why I instantly took to it even though I didn't watch it until AFTER it had finished. Yet knowing it will never come back has meant my enjoyment is short and sweet and NOTHING has replaced it for me. I so wish I could've met the cast and writing crew at the San Diego Comic Con!

Sheldon Cooper was absolutely the best part of this series. My Husband's name was Sheldon Lee K. Won't tell his last name. Jim Parsons' character drew me and my Family's deep interest. I think my late husband had a lot of his personality traits. My Husband was Extremely Handsome , 6'6" tall, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, nearly black. My Husband was the Art Specialist at his primary Magnet School. Jim Parsons is handsome too.

I consider Johnny Galecki the heart of the show. He was like Bones - introverted and intellectual, but had the wisdom to ground himself just enough to be a support for the other brainiacs who weren't so good at it. I think his role was the hardest to act and to make believable. But he did it, and I think that made him the wind beneath the wings of the rest of the cast. Parsons was the Spock - more neurotic than stoic, but the intellect combined with an inability to perceive the emotions of others made him the locus of conflict as well as the comic relief. And Parson's skill playing the role made him the most popular. Both of these characters were irreplaceable. I don't think the show had a Captain Kirk, nor did it need one. The best of humanity's idealism and ambition and all that. Each character in BBT had their own hopes and dreams and their own character arcs. As a side note, we played a board game several years ago, a see how well you know your friends kind of game. One of the questions was which female character from BBT would you marry. Unhesitatingly, all of us men said "Amy." She was nearly as awkward as Sheldon, and yet she was also thoughtful, patient, loyal, nurturing, etc. Her being a neurobiologist was just icing on the cake. We were all surprised that we answered the same way since both Penny and Bernadette were written to be more attractive if not downright sexy. But it goes to show you how much fans can bond with characters, and how it goes much deeper than the surface.

I think TBBT could have continued for few more years, maybe even 5 or more years even without Sheldon. They could have written off the character and continued the show with the rest of the cast. No need to replace Sheldon with another character. Not fair for the rest of the cast members to end the show. The whole cast was that good to successfully continue the show. But I don't blame Jim Parsons for wanting to leave the show, everybody at some point may want to leave a particular job for various reasons. Maybe he was bored of it or couldn't take the rigors and demands of an incredibly popular and successful show. After the end of the show which he caused, Jim has faded into obscurity and hopefully a slow and peaceful life. Maybe that's what he wanted. There was talk of Jim doing Broadway plays after leaving TBBT, but it doesn't seem to have panned out for him. But did I miss it? ... "The Infamous Scene ....that made Parsons quit the show."

it is a bit of a eulogy of Parsons but it was only him offset against the other actors that made it so worthwhile. Also that none of the actors got diva attitudes but have even now just remained themselves. You don`t even say much at all about the individual co actors who to my mind are all real actors instead of the stars you mostly see.

I was long made to feel like something was a bit off with me because I'm introverted, because so much of TV, etc, is centered around extroverts being loud and brash and seeking to be popular. After suffering through big parties where I couldn't find enjoyment in getting drunk and acting like an idiot along with the mob, I came to realize that what I valued were deep, intimate relationships with others, not with surrounding myself with as many people as possible in shallow interactions. While I'd never lump myself in with nerds and geeks, what I found refreshing about the Big Bang Theory is that it reflected how people can find fulfillment in other ways, like in personal accomplishment instead of the number of Facebook friends, and still have strong relationships. And yet, I see kids these days who are in every way intellectually normal, but just happen to be introverted, getting branded with such labels as "high-functioning autistic". I've seen autistic. Sheldon is autistic. Some of these kids are not. But they are being taught to not just feel different, but to label themselves as being abnormal, while extroverts who do things like suffer in school and work performance and intimate relationships because going out and being popular is so important to them don't receive a similar label of somehow being dysfuncational. So, in a way, things have gotten worse since I was a kid.

I'm an INTP. One who's better at math and literature than understanding social situations. There is a trade between being smart in social situations and knowing the difference between a dactyl meter and an anapest meter. My best success in social situations is cracking a joke at my own expense. Never be too proud. With a 125 IQ, it has brought down my social IQ every time I've forgotten what I've gone to the store to get. That happens. Characters such as Sheldon are relatable.

I mean, the show was over a decade old. American sitcoms always run way too long until they’re an overbeaten dead horse and they almost always jump the shark. Few shows like Seinfeld know when to really call it quits. The worst example being the Simpsons. When it finally ends it die with the faintest of whimpers. It will be lucky if it even pulls in3 million for the series finale. Pitiful when in its heyday it used to average 15 million or more viewers. Now it barely averages 2 million viewers.
