A family of 4 was on a raft and because of lack of maintenance it drug on the bottom and flipped over. The father broke his arm, 1 son was trapped under water and died, the other son was hospitalised. Adventureland was family owned, but sold to a 3rd party amusement park company most likey because the victims sued their pants off

As someone from Scotland, I have been to M&Ds several times with my young daughter but not for many years. The fact that a 'toddlers' play area was under a roller coaster seems potentially dangerous. Only luck stopped this incident being much worse.

I’ve been on this coaster probably about 20 times in my life, I don’t live very far from this particular theme park, and my family stopped going entirely after this and the water flume incident. M&Ds is a cheap death trap of a place, and always has been since they opened. The reason it’s so small is because the people who own it know it’s one of the few actual permanent theme parks in Scotland, so they refused to invest in it. The worst by far was the big pirate swing, they let it practically fall apart and you can actually hear it audibly scraping the metal when it goes because the company won’t even buy the proper lubricant grease for the gears up the top. It’s not a matter of If someone’s going to die there, it’s when.

It's always so infuriating to hear when preventable incidents like this happen because of a total lack and disregard for safety by the owners. From the sounds of it. They basically used the wrong welding wire for the repairs, which is something that will pretty much guarantee a failure in the weld. You need to weld with a metal (in wire form) that is basically close enough in composition to target material for both metals to properly fuse together.

My wife had an accident @ a theme park as well, as did her cousin, who had almost died from being "flung" from a broken chain "swing" ride @ a carnival!! 2 say that my wife & I R NO longer fans of theme parks & carnivals is putting it mildly!!
