@@misscute580 No, what happened was Communists in Northern Korea decided to perform a bloody coup - since, being Communists, all they know is how to destroy - & the Koreans in the South asked for US help in stopping it. Sadly, the most the US could do at the time was keep the Southern half of the country from falling to the rapacious, demented, & twisted Communists, & thus North & South Korea were born. As for a united, Communist Korea, that is impossible for two reasons. 1.) The entire reason there is a South Korea is there are Koreans who don't want to be Communists. If there weren't, Korea would've stayed in one piece & just changed economic ideologies. 2.) Even if you could, by some miracle, get South Korea to merge with North Korea as a Communist nation, all that's going to do is make the US pull out of South Korea. And when that happens, China - a rapacious country with a failing economic system who believes all Asian countries should belong to it - will come swopping in to claim the $1 Trillion plus in natural resources Kim Jung Un is sitting on with no way of developing them. So, if North beats South, Korea dies as an independent nation.

We gave been used to "assimilation" with others our whole lives. The younger generation has taken it a step further by straight up attaching themselves to other people's ENTIRE cultural upbringing. Instead of just taking bits and pieces. Which is super rude and suffocating to people who actually fully represent those cultures. This is the problem of being privileged in a society where "fluid thinking" is synonymous with progressiveness and modern thinking. Your feelings are valid because they're your "truth" but the baseline is, truth isn't subjective. Truth is truth and to say otherwise is contradictory of itself. Oli is British of British decent, and shouldn't be supported to this claim that his culture and homecountry is somewhere he's never contributed to, besides mutilating his face to imitate them. Korea has a very sensitive history, inspirational nonetheless, but to be tied to a country, land, language and culture is more than skin deep. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, but this is insanity. Transracialism should never be legitimised.

I was arguing with a friend a few years ago, when I first learned what trans meant, especially on the topic of whether it was transphobic to use science to defend transness (like Blaire said, how there are brain differences, and how classifying gender dysphoria as a mental condition actually legitimises trans identities). He believed that transness, regardless of context, was physical biology, not psychology - so a transwoman is biologically female. I believed that sex and gender were separate - a female could identify as a man, but they were still not _biologically_ male. The argument sort of went in circles, until I said that I could identify as a guinea pig, and live my life as a guinea pig, and society could respect my wishes to be seen and treated like a guinea pig, but that didn't make me _biologically_ an _actual_ guinea pig. And he said yes it did. If you identify as a guinea pig, you are _biologically_ an _actual_ guinea pig. The statement blew me away, and really hit home how extreme the science denial is, even in such objective reality. It's on the same level as flat earthism; there is no rational discord to be had with this mindset. But more than just the absurdity, it is genuinely dangerous to trans people. There are important biological differences between virtually any demographic, from sex, to race, to even height or bone density or freckle quantity, that impact a person's health care. There's the more obvious things, like a transwoman might still get prostate cancer or a transmen might get still get ovarian cancer, and thus need health care that targets their _sex_ and not their _gender_, but there's also medication dosages and side effects to consider, and the symptoms of diseases are different. If a transman goes to the ER with a heart attack, and tells the doctors that he is biologically male, then he will probably die because nobody will consider his female-based symptoms to be indicative of a heart attack in a man. This is what pisses me off more than anything else - that this nonsense is genuinely and very seriously harming and endangering the people they are claiming to protect.

Sex and Gender aren't seperate. They are different words that mean more or less the same thing. They only recently have been started to be used differently, it was a french post modernist woman from like 60 years ago, who's name escapes me and i don't feel like looking up. Regardless, just because a man might have a more feminine gender expression, wouldn't make their gender female and sex male, they would be a male with more feminine gender expression. Gender/Sex are interchangeable and are referring to your biology.

I like people with common sense like you, but there is no reason to claim one's sex identity is somehow defined by sex corelated differences in a human brain. You understand me, right? Those differences might result possibly in differences in personality traits, in preferences, in various abilities, but it doesn't mean there is something inate in your brain informing you of what your sex is or should be. I mean, sure, there are probably some conclusions your brain made out of observations of yourself, out of comparisons of you and other people. But I would have been shocked if there were some sex identity markers forcing you to believe you are of a certain sex. We don't have such markers on our hair color, our skin color, our height, I guess. There is no need to. All you need is sexual attraction based on feromones, some cognitive abilities to spot differences between people and to group them if it is useful to group them.

I mean, Korean is an ethnicity, you can’t just “become” Korean by being knowledgeable about Korean culture and language. You can be a Korean citizen but not Korean if you weren’t born with a Korean parent. Just like how I’m considered Korean even though I’m an American citizen who doesn’t know that much Korean, Koreans recognize me as a Korean due to my blood. Same with Korean adoptees who have no knowledge of the Korean language and culture, for Koreans they are still considered Korean. Being Korean is in the blood. However being a Korean citizen or being knowledgeable in Korean is attainable. Some might find in “unfair” but for many people in other countries, blood (ethnicity) is important when defining as an identity of that nation. Just as someone else here mentioned there are ethnic groups in Chile, where their identity is tied with their blood. You becoming educated in their culture and language doesn’t mean you’re accepted as being part of the people (distinction from being a citizen).

So...this guy "transitions" to a different race, and then says Korea is his culture now, and his home country now. I don't think he understands what he's trying to do. Your culture is the one you were raised in, and your home country is where you were raised. You can't just "identify" as being raised somewhere else. That's like "identifying" as being rich, or "identifying" as being in a relationship with your favorite celebrity. It's okay to simply love everything about Korean culture, but you can't BECOME Korean, no matter how badly you may want to! This is just nonsense! What, is he going to "identify" as having a Korean passport? How about "identifying" as having a Korean birth certificate (or whatever documentation they have there) ? How far are people like him going to take this? Are trans people just going to "identify" as being and having everything they want, and nothing they don't? Can sick people "identify" as being healthy, and will that actually do anything? How about "identifying" as being thin when you are actually obese? Can a felon "identify" as someone without a criminal record?

Can a paraplegic "identify " as someone who has legs...
@phxntomp13343 жыл бұрын
Although I do not support the person in the video, I disagree with few of your points; - Your culture is not the one you are raised in. If you immigrate to a new country, the government or society will attempt to integrate you into their society, and assimilate you into their society if you've been living there long enough. That means, if you immigrated and are integrated into that country's society, you can be assimilated into their culture. It is just matter of commitment and time. - Remember that races are not only nouns, but also adjectives. If you are speaking the language of that society, if you have been living there long enough and if you actually are committed to only that society, you do have a right to call yourself that you are a member of that society. According to the South Korean government, to be a Korean citizen (see the race being an adjective there?), you need to fulfill the following requirements; * Live in South Korea for longer than five years, * Be able to financially support yourself without any benefits/aid from the government, * Fluently speak Korean, * Participate in the local community you're living in, * Have no any criminal records. Remember, those aren't my words, those are the South Korean government's words on becoming a Korean citizen.
@moon42363 жыл бұрын
Technically you can "become" Korean since is possible to gain a nationality but to do that you would have to live somewhere for five years (and there are some other things I think?) And your previous nationality wouldn't get erased so you would have two nationalities just like if your parents are from one country but you are born in a different one you get both nationalities but I understand what you are trying to say and agree with some of your arguments.

Here's what's actually legitimately "problematic" about the current narrative that dysphoria isn't a component of being trans in that if it isn't a mental health issue then that will make it increasingly difficult for trans people to receive gender affirming surgery that is covered by medical insurance. Insurance companies are notorious stingy as is, and with people now saying "no, I do not need this surgery because of some condition that is threatening my health, it's just how I feel", then you're also saying that the surgery is, essentially, elective or cosmetic, which is exactly what Ollie has done. London clearly had the money, but a lot of trans people do not to foot the bill on these kinds of surgeries or HRT for themselves without insurance, so by claiming dysphoria isn't a real issue, you are not only opening the door for stuff like this which, as Blair said you now also can't argue isn't valid, you're giving insurance companies a great way to deny covering what, for many people IS life-saving treatment. This all is so counter-productive to actually being accepting of people who are trans that it blows my fucking mind.

I think it's just him taking the easy route out. He wants to be Korean, but doesn't want to put in the extra effort to _be_ legally Korean. I mean, if he truly loved the culture, learnt the language and basically lived and breathed as a successfully assimilated foreigner in Korea, I wouldn't bat an eyelash. But he's content on "feeling like a Korean". Although arguably, I'd say having 18 surgeries is way harder than legally assimilating into the country but, it's all about how we feel right? We don't need to produce much effort to be controversial so we can pay for our surgeries to be aesthetically Asian.

My question is this: how will they teach biology in medical school now? Do you want your doctor believing every humans biology is the same? I would repent if a biological male got ovarian cancer? Or a biological female got testicular cancer. And I am not talking about intersex people. They are a gender of their own literally
@MGC-XIII3 жыл бұрын
What about a woman that has both female and male sex organs, but the male sex organ is under developed and they get testicular cancer? We're talking extremes, but I'm sure it has happened in all of human history given the fact that genitalia is based on how much the Y chromosome mutates since a Y chromosome is a mutated X chromosome and we also know that XXY is a thing.
@MGC-XIII3 жыл бұрын
@@pseudonymousbosch6249 yeah OP changed their comment to mention intersex people, but they didn't have that initially. Intersex people are not their own gender though due to gender not being a biological term xD

Intersex people are not a “gender of their own”, I keep commenting this but gender is used for inanimate objects, for us, it’s called biological sex. And intersex people have genetic conditions that are not all the same, they have a lot of variations to the point where it’s not even observable at birth and always, always they choose the binary by identifying as male or female. They’re not a “third gender”, not even a third sex

@@MGC-XIII an apparent woman who has undescended testies is biologically a man (XY chromosomes) but can choose to live as a woman and in most cases have the internal testies removed because of the physical pain and disconfort they cause.

People born intersex, are often outwardly female. Very rarely if at all being outwardly male (i havent seen it but it could happen.) Which means, despite having both parts, one is usually vestigial, meaning it doesnt work. Which makes an intersex person either male, or female. Not a 3rd unidentifiable gender.
