This would be a fantastic film, with a well established production team. Surely, a story like this is engaging, thoughtful, & connects history, present, & the past in such a lovely story- a unique telling.

@evelanpatton Out of curiosity I just did a little search and discovered that there is a film adaptation in production - starring, written and directed by Charles Dance no less! But while you're waiting, you may like an old British film called 'The Halfway House' (1944), which I've often thought may have been an influence on Alice Thomas Ellis. It's about a very varied group of strangers who all come to a remote Welsh inn on the same day. Each of the travellers is running away from something in their lives, and there is something about the inn that helps them to face their pasts and their futures...

Unexplained Laughter by Alice Thomas Ellis is another great book. There was a BBC play made with the same name, and it starred Diana Rigg and Elaine Paige. Both the book and play recommended.@MysticalMagpie-wo5fn
