The play started like this. There is no first part 😊

This is the beginning. In the book, Peter and Inspector Parker, have a conversation with the Dr in a restaurant. Obviously, there's a lot more detail in the book about the events leading up to the death. The beginning of this drama could be better.

My dad used to refer to the gas light and smoke company. Not coke as Wimsey says around 2 minutes. Long gone of course.

Gaslight and Coke. Coke was a smokeless fuel used in furnaces. It was a genuine company!

A bit too much of the "marbles in the mouth". Did people really speak like that. The story was rather unbelievable and waffling.

I prefer Hugh Burden to Ian Carmichael 's cringeworthy attempt at a " posh " accent . More suited to a pantomime..! Why on earth the Director allowed him to get away with it I cannot fathom..? Presumably a young director in awe of an established " star "...

IMO Carmichael was the quintessential Wimsey and no one ever came close to playing Sayers uppercrust toff

No they just choose the best actor for the part ; simples

I love his accent. He is pleasing to my ear and plays his character marvellously.
