Difference between the GOLF GTI and GOLF R are as follows: The R is different in these areas specifically engine. In other words both cars are great, golf R being the stronger engine. - Cylinder head (made from a different alloy compared to other engines in this module because of higher thermal stress). - Exhaust valves (hollow, higher Ni content, nitrided). - Exhaust valve seat rings (improved temperature stability and wear resistance). - Exhaust camshaft (adapted valve timings). - Compression ratio 9.3:1 with different pistons. - Piston cooling jets (higher flow rate). - High pressure injectors (even higher flow rate). - Bigger turbo, IHI IS38. - Charge pressures of up to 17.4 PSI (1.2 bar). - High performance main radiator with 1-2 auxiliary radiators (depending on country specifications) - Sound actuator (for the occupant cell) and active exhaust flaps in the exhaust system.

I've got gti PP. Comes with VAQ diff from factory but apparently a tune takes it above the torque it can handle as its an electrically controlled clutch system like Haldex. Rather than a purely mechanical like wavetrac or quafe diff

I had a GTi stock and it was an absolute pig to handle when going around bends uphill, especially in the wet. I can't imagine how difficult 510bhp would be to properly grip and when you lose a bit of tread, it would be hell. That's why I went for the R. Even in this video you can see how much power is lost on takeoff and in lower gears.

my scirocco is at about 300bhp (just over) at the moment, and it feels fucking fast, i used to have some fast beemers, fastest being a 645ci 4.4 and a 2011 pana 3.6 petrol - but honestly the rocco feels ' faster - so i cant imagine that

Love the 2 GTI's, nicely modded back in the day i had, engine is solid and the performance.... from they known as Pocket Rocket, awesome... not to be sniffed at the GTI is.... unbelievable how the turbo is, constant power.... Nuff respect for that setup... love the Milltek Exhaust System... oh i wish i had one now... sadly moved on to the M3.....

Great video what a GTI! Only doubts for me running that bhp would be the DSG handling the power long term and the wild understeer especially in the wet. My R slides about hard cornering in the wet so can’t imagine front wheel drive at +500bhp!

Only 2.2 bar 😳 My Impreza was running 554bhp at 1.8 bar on a GT35R through 4wd on a safe map from RCM. That type of power through fwd is silly but fair play to you for doing it. LSD as a minimum required and should of been first mod.
