The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 (1967-1971) -- sometimes referred to as the Queen Mother -- was the last of the dry sump 60 degree sohc V12 Ferrari 2+2s. It was succeeded by the 365 GTC/4 (1971-1972). In a cost-engineering move Ferrari put a *wet* sump 60 degree V12 in this one, albeit with double overhead cams. To reduce overall height the intake ports sit between the cams, using six side draft Webers. All came with a 5-spd manual gearbox. The wedge shaped 2+2, of which the 400i is one, began with the 365 GT4 2+2 (1972-1976). They carried forward the wet sump dohc V12, as well as the 5-speed stick. The 400 GT/400 Automatic (1976-1979) grew the engine by 420 cc and added the option of a GM Turbo Hydramatic 3-spd slushbox. The 400i (1979-1984) swapped out the six side-draft Webers for Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, a mechanical setup which, like a lawn sprinkler system, has all 12 injectors running full time, with mixture control handled by a plate on a lever floating up and down in the intake tract. The sub 5-liter engines in the 365 GT4 2+2 and 400s were no match for their two ton weight, with 0-60 in the 7's. Where they excel is in freeway -- or Autobahn/Autostrada -- cruising. Like Dan was guessing, those thick seat cushions, covered with glove-soft leather, are *extremely* comfortable.

The Segerstrom car museum has a Boss 429 Mustang next to a regular 428 Mustang with the hoods open so you can see what they did. The Boss cars had the inner fender sheet metal around the upper shock mounts cut out, moved a couple inches outboard, and welded back in.

Having attended RM at Amelia Island twice now, I understand the addiction to just standing around these things. It's a whole other world. If you make enough contacts at these events, perhaps one day the dealership can turn into a broker ship for high end Ferraris? Never know. I just find the older cars, the lines, mechanicals, interiors, etc... so much more interesting than modern supercars. I can stare at just one of them for hours trying to figure out the engineering and marveling at how they work. Pure art. I'm sure you saw plenty of Hegarty signs around. The folks working with them are the folks you want to get acquainted with. If for nothing else, to find great craftsmen like detailers and restorers. Hope to meet you guys at one of these events sometime. P.S. Disconcerting that you have to explain to Adam that the Miura is the first supercar.

Interesting fact about the Boss 429 Mustangs................................. the stock engine compartment wasn't wide enough for the engine to fit, so Ford sent the cars to Kar Kraft in Dearborn for them to modify the compartment to fit the motor.

My heart still belongs to the 288 Gto. It was my dream car and will always be my dream to have one. Unfortunately they are way to expensive. I spent most of my life to save up for a supercar and got myself the Tributo with over 25 years of saving etc etc. But the 288 Gto will always be my first love. The girl that slipped through my fingers. Just glad David Lee never invited me to view his car collection. It will take him a month to wash the lip marks of his Gto

When you see the amazing sheet metal and know it was hand formed and identical left and right. Gives me huge respect for the true super Mario craftsmen in Italy. I'd also make sure you Texas boys wear more than gym clothes if your going to be in the big leagues. There is a watch dealer out of Philly I would love to do business with. His staff dress like they are homeless. I won't spend more than $500 if people don't insist on looking business professional to the product and clientele. Please take it for what it's worth. Iso's were incredible cars. Italian style with dependable American V8 powertrains. They were very well engineered cars. The BMW Isetta started as an Iso but was much more improved on. I settable in Italian is little Iso. Iso was a manufacturer of appliances and other products before they took the leap to automobiles. They should demand higher prices for their rarity alone but sadly don't have the name recognition of brands like Ferrari.

This video is why I can't watch most you tubers. It blows my mind how you can be so clueless to past cars. They serve the very foundation of the laptops we currently buy. That Iso for instance (pronounced Ee-so and not I-S-O) is incredibly rare with a big block in it. The majority of them came with a small block. Don't worry though your not alone, Effsport posted a video yesterday banging on how rare the LFA was he found in a parking garage at car week, mean while parked next to it was a 250 California which he completely glossed over.

Maybe that's cause I don't really care about those cars? I know enough about the cars I care about. Saying stuff this is like me saying I really can't stand how little people understand computers. I mean just because I got a degree in computer science and spent 20+ years of my life programming them means everyone who uses one should understand them like I do. See? It's irrelevant.

As a Lamborghini owner (2001 Diablo 6.0 and 2008 Murcielago LP640) I find it kind of frustrating that every Lamborghini you guys (especially Adam) feel compelled to trash talk it. How on earth can you say "stupid eyelashes" and shit talk the Miura? The Miura is, without debate, the car the started what we all love. It is indisputable that the Lamborghini Miura and Countach absolutely pushed Ferrari to create some of the cars you guys love. So... there's really no reason to shit talk Lamborghini. Ferrari has just as many shitty things like sticky buttons, dashboards that shrink and crack (if those are both universal problems with Ferrari, why haven't they changed so it doesn't happen?), headers that crack, etc. But your first reaction (especially Adam's, not as much Dan) always is "What disparaging comment can I say about this car?" Just saying... Do you realize you're doing it? Go back and watch the video. 😀
@normalguysupercar
@normalguysupercar 2 жыл бұрын
Are you really getting upset by people talking about a car on a video? It's just opinions. Adam happens to think the Miura eyelashes are dumb, who cares? The Countach is a terrible car. It just is. Does that mean I don't want one? Hell no, I want one badly. And you think we don't shit on Ferraris too? You've been missing a lot of content of ours then.

Dude, Ferrari owners trash talk engineering and material decisions Ferrari makes ALL THE TIME. Countach was my poster car as a teen in the 80's. I'd love to have one, but they drive like shit. Who cares? It's still an awesome looking car as is the Miura. Frankly, I stopped caring about Lamborghini after the Diablo. Now they are just a "bro" brand turning out one Rubik's cube after another. However, their cars prior to the Diablo were beautiful works of art, especially the Miura.

@@normalguysupercar I've watched every video of yours. In that RM tour, you said nothing bad about Ferrari's. LOL. "The dash is pulling, but that's normal." Implying that it's acceptable. Whatever. It just bothers me. No, I'm not "getting upset". But I watch the video and whenever there is a Lambo I hear snide remarks and never for Ferrari. Honor those cars for that they are. If Lambo didn't do those, Ferrari would be a very different company (and cars) today.
@jeffdibart9282
@jeffdibart9282 2 жыл бұрын
@@thefauxtist4387 I mostly agree with you about the Bro cars, but after MURCIELAGO, not Diablo. The Murcie was the last great Lambo, and honestly is better than everything before or since. My Diablo is awesome, but my Murci is way better. Anything after is a computer game.
