We Accidentally Bought a Ferrari at Auction

Josh and Dan were watching the wholesale auctions, commenting on some of the cars that were going for way too much money. A nice Ferrari F430 Spider came up for sale, and they accidentally bought it. Well, I guess we will have a new F430 Spider up for sale soon.

I was at the Mecum auction a month or two a go and there was a California in absolutely terrible condition. It probably needed 20 grand in repairs and it went for 95,000. That said it didn't look half bad on the web site and of course it went to an online bidder.

Dan you had a similar situation when you sold the 360, the one with the Smokey headers. The 360 door handle broke when giving the car to the buyer.

Awesome video guys. You two sound exactly like me and my business partner trying to buy at the dealer auction every week since 2005. We Wonder why people pay too much for the cars we’re watching then pick something up randomly because the price and condition is right and wonder why buyers are sleeping on it. Happy hunting. As far as these latches getting broken,fore or aft, I don’t know how many times I’ve seen videos where the guy shows, say an F430 spider ( which I have) ; “and here’s the engine, SLAM!! They just slam it shut with no thought at all that there’s a rather expensive piece of glass in that deck lid, or that other parts could be damaged should anything be slightly out of alignment. Lower it down into position, then click it shut with your palms people!! If someone has enough brainpower to afford a Ferrari, this level of common sense should be easily graspable.

Do you feel like an expert, Dan? When did you feel you had enough experience where you said “Wait! I know something!” At some point you became legit in the used Ferrari space. When you can buy a car sight unseen and shrug when you accidentally get it your expert enough cause you know the good the bad and the ugly of the business.

I think it's a stand-up move to help the guy get his hood latch fixed even though you technically don't have to. Word of mouth is a good thing in the car business, and by you helping him out, he might spread the word to someone else wanting to buy a used Ferrari
