8:00 I always interpreted this scene as LSF using the Dragon Egg to turn back the clock, to go back to before his parents' death, so he can make things better before it all goes wrong. His parents are alive and he befriends Sephiroth to prevent him becoming evil in the future. This actually solves a few of the plot holes later on, like LSF still having both arms, the Ender Dragon still being alive when the other players get there, as well as Sephiroth's surprise appearance in a future fight.
