Ragnar Bolgen I remember my mom jumped in front of a fork an old lady was wielding and her coworker got hit in the head with a shoe by the same person. Luckily both of them are fine but my mom still says, despite her age, it was somewhat scary. The woman died a day later and my mother even felt bad for her. As did I but I wasn't the one nearly stabbed by a fork. She's truly an amazing person.

You know the worst part about the nurse story that seemingly EVERYONE forgets? Wubbles was just doing her job, but her SUPERVISOR on the phone was the one telling the officer it wasn't allowed. "You're making a mistake threatening a nurse." Payne attacked the messenger.

Wrong. Firing the officers is a knee jerk response that does NOTHING to stop this from happening again. The officers need to be reprimanded & the person who gave the order needs to be fired. Ultimately, the decision to get that illegal blood sample was made by someone in power (chief of police) who did so at the directive of the MAYOR and City Representatives. They are the ones who want to protect their cushy paychecks and bonuses, which would be adversely affected by a lawsuit from the trucker. The political representatives that were put in positions of authority cared about their own interests and prioritized those over citizens rights. Blaming the whole situation on the officers involved is exactly what the higher ups that made the order want. They will throw them under the bus and protect themselves, then they will make the exact same order the next time.

That's how it SHOULD be. But in many cases police aren't really trained properly, so they may not be sure of the letter of the law and at the end of the day, when they are tired and frustrated, they just... act. Yes, there are bad cops in the system, but there is also a BAD SYSTEM that undervalues law enforcement officers, not giving them the training or mental health techniques they deserve.

Police departments intentionally hire the most uneducated failures at life they can find. Fun fact having a college diploma actually puts you at a DISADVANTAGE for getting hired onto the police force. In fact they used to just turn you away if you were college educated. Its far easier controlling a bunch of buffoons than actual educated individuals Some of my family members are officers and they way they tell the average beat cop knows just a few pages more than the average citizen about the law. Officers are in no way some sort of special class they're just average people given a gun and a badge and minimal training in many cases.

darkdudironaji Actually most do.In fact you're clumping together "lawyer" as someone who knows the law but that's not how it works.Im in a job training program offered by my highschool and my instructor knows what he is enforcing.A lemon lawyer isn't generally going to know that much about search and seizure.The term "lawyer" isn't an all encompassing term in the real world.Its often specialized in an area.The police know the laws they enforce.This is evidently a case of a cop losing his cool after so long of trying to just get his job done(the more complete videos show the 30min+ of them explaining that she is obstructing an investigation).This is the sort of thing we are currently going over in ethics.Clearly an escalation of force though.

I don't know about fired, because some situations can be grey, in this case the police overstepped and should payout money for this, and be forced into mandatory training regarding this to prevent such events from happening again. They are just trying to do their job, a job where the right choice isn't always clear. Sometimes they overreach because they are trying to do what needs to be done. i can't imagine why they needed it in this case and was more than likely unnecessary and should be punished, but i don't think they should lose their job over it in this case, no one was hurt, and she might have had some mental stress for a bit but she'll be ok, she should however definitely receive some sort of monetary recompense for her mental anguish.

You can complain about the loss of funds if you like. Here's a protip: If you don't want to lose funding then train your officers correctly so they don't think they have their own laws and don't violate peoples civil rights with wrongful arrests. A good number of police officers need a firm reminder that they are paid with public money to protect and serve. Not to harass and violate people's rights. Also, if she could would have complied she would have been civilly liable for breaking the law and hospital policy. Meaning he or his family could have sued HER. Easy to say she should have complied when you are not the one facing a possible lawsuit.

We need to have some massive changes to our police force here in the US. Police have been militarized and have been given so much more power in the last 20 years or so. We get more and more stuff like this every week. It's no wonder I feel nervous in the presence of a police officer. The police are supposed to be for the people, for protection. Not these military thugs. I know it's not all police, but it's happening often enough for us to get footage of corruption on the regular. This is why gun ownership needs to remain legal. Exactly. The senior officer was just as responsible. If he hadn’t condoned and covered for it, but instead corrected and disciplined him immediately, it wouldn’t have happened. It's a very easy explanation for Officer Payne, he was a petulant child who wasn't getting his way so he stamped his feet and had a meltdown. But let me be clear, I'm a former ED nurse, and normally there is a very good relationship between nurses and police; police know we are the ones caring for them when they get hurt and we (nurses and medical staff) know police will respond quickly when we get an out of control situation. There is typically mutual respect...it's a shame he has become the face of police interacting with emergency room staff. Nurse Wubbles is a hero.

This is so damaging to our police force who is frantically trying to win the public over after the chaos and lies the social media, liberal news and so on have preached as truth about our law enforcement. He fucked up so bad here and seemed like a bully who just wanted to throw his fat ass weight around and not uphold the law he swore to protect. Watching how "Detective" Payne behaved and treated a health care professional who explained the situation in plain English and he couldn't cope like an adult and a professional and went right to the handcuffs is unforgivable. This man's actions is probably going to result in physical violence towards fellow officers. His career should be over, and that nurse should press charges and sew him in civil court. This bully just handed black lives matter, antifa, sjw's, and our destructive media exactly what they want. Fuck this asshole.

@@HateTaxesWASt Even worse, Detective Payne was also the designated "Blood Draw" Detective for the SLCPD and he knew the law just as well as Nurse Wubbles and the House Supervisor she had on the phone. My mum used to be a nurse and i have to say that their job is one of the hardest out there. She had to work unreasonable hours and night shifts while having three young children and still got up and did her job every day. Nurses don't get the respect they deserve, they have the same knowledge as a doctor but after the diagnosis they don't walk away and talk tot another patient, they stay with them and treat them as a human. When i saw that video it made me so angry that the police officer treated her like that, he was basically saying "because I cant do what I want I'm going to arrest you" almost as if to prove a point. He handled her like some rag doll and he should be charged with something because what he did has to be illegal. She was doing her job and I'm glad that she stuck to the hospitals policy's. That's the thing that is so strange. Numerous people have pointed out that it's a simple matter for the officer to get a warrant for the blood sample. Just a phone call and a few minutes and he should have what he needs to get the sample so why is he making it such an issue. Going through the argument with the nurse and arresting her is going to take more time than getting the warrant. So this seems to be more about sending a message to the hospital than actually doing the job.

The other officers are cowards for not intervening, they are even used for further intimidation as the arresting officer tells the hospital staff anyone who intervenes will be arrested by the other officers. Then the other officers after cowarding down, start trying to help the arresting officers by handling the protesting hospital staff. The hospital security are also cowards for not protecting those under their protection (the hospital staff and patients), they go even so far to assist the arresting officer by pushing the button to remotely keep the doors to the outside open so the arresting officer can drag the nurse outside. There's so many failures and things wrong in this incident.

I retired last December from a twenty year career in Law Enforcement. Ten of those years I was a Sergeant (A shift supervisor) in charge of a team of officers. I tell you, if one of my officers had done this exact thing I would have (upon arriving on the scene) released the nurse from custody with an apology and with information on how to contact the department's internal affairs unit. I then would have told the officer to turn in his badge and gun to me right then and there and I would tell him to go home and that he would be contacted pending an internal investigation of his actions. The detective violated this woman's constitutional rights, he should be terminated from his agency. The Lt. should be disciplined for gross incompetence and failure to act when he has witnessed a crime (the violation of the nurses rights) and for dishonesty (saying one thing to the nurse and hospital staff and basically the opposite to his own officers). Again, as a twenty year LE veteran, this situation is indefensible and if the SLCPD attempts to defend either of these disgraces to the uniform, the chief should then also be removed.

There is no doubt in my mind that the officers wanted the blood sample to see if they could put any amount of blame on the truck driver. I'm a trucker myself and the lengths police will go to drag a trucker through the mud is horrifying. My father (a fellow trucker) had stopped to assist with an accident that occurred on the other side of the highway, and when police arrived they gave my father a real hard time. They asked for log books, a breathalyzer, and drug test. They even accused my father of blinding one of the victims with his high beams and causing the accident, when the accident had already happened by the time my father came across it. If a cop can save his ass by trying to blame a trucker, they will go above and beyond to do so.

CadenceReads my opinion isn't based off of just one instance. Every trucker I've ever talked to has nearly always had an issue with either Police, DOT, or border guards giving them a real hard time. Are there good cops, sure, but the cops that do start after a trucker usually go above and beyond to find something. I had a cop pull me over claiming i was impaired driving just because i literally scratched my ass for a second and subsequently drifted onto the rumble strip for 1 second. Nearly every trucker hits that strip every day for a number of reasons; passing another truck, gust of wind hitting the broadside of the trailer, etc. The officer starts giving me the full 9 yards: log books, flash light in the eyes, asked if i was on meds or sleepy, when did i wake up, when did i start driving, when did i stop last, on and on and on. Just as he was asking me to step out of the truck he notices my dashcam. "Is that a dashcam?" "Yes" "Is it recording right now?" "Yes. Front facing and in the cab. Company requirement, hardwired in." "....... fine!" He immediately gave me back my paperwork and let me go, after he realized he was being recorded. And i doubt they'd care if it was an officer, especially a reserve officer. If they could pass the buck I'm sure they would.
@itsbobmd7 жыл бұрын
You do know the truck driver was a cop too don't you??MAYBE they wanted the sample so a year from now when the family of the escaping felon hires a lawyer and comes back and sues the truck drivers family, and the trucking company they have undeniable proof that the truck driver was in no way at fault? Or are you too cynical to think from that perspective?

State troopers are the primary offenders in situations like this. I think it's mainly influenced by the fact that since they're not given a specific community to protect and serve, they don't view themselves as protectors, but enforcers. It's like they feel the need to cover each other's backs because they're afraid no one else will if someone tries to press charges against them.

@rc28847 жыл бұрын
Wrong doing by police such by handled and investigated by an impartial third party. But the reality is that cases are often solved internally or given to a neighbouring police force. Even third party investigators are usually ex cops. I think something like a senate investigative committee consisting of members of the public and local politicians is a much more viable solution
@malcanth34817 жыл бұрын
TitanicMan Internal police investigation: "I know you think I did something wrong, but I investigated it and I'm innocent. No further evidence is required." I know it isn't that simple and there are some policies that are supposed to make the investigation take place without bias, but sadly there is a culture of silence in the police. The public doesn't really get to see behind the curtain so it becomes hard to trust the police when they say nothing wrong happened. Maybe what happened wasn't really wrong, but it hurts public trust when there is evidence pointing to wrong conduct and the only evidence police give that nothing wrong happened is "trust us."

A warrant does NOT "make them legally part of the patient's care", it just gives them access and/or possession to whatever the warrant specifies. By wording it the way you did - and I SERIOUSLY hope this was just a case of bad wording - that'd mean a complete stranger, the random cop, could make medical decisions, including treatment, and/or gain access to information they're NOT privy to, and all WITHOUT the patient's knowledge nor consent, which is NOT true.

When a cop attacks like that, you have to understand, he's putting your life in danger because at any time he feels he's losing control he will draw his weapon and shoot you without warning. If we are going to give them G-D like life and death power like that then they must be held to a far higher standard than "lose your job if you illegally abuse your victim". He should be in jail at least 2 years for assault and then have to register as a violent offender and live by violent offender rules for the rest of his life.

I think the currently plague like culture of extreme mindsets sweeping the nation is far worse than a cop who lost his cool and went to far. He should not be held to a higher standard than others, he should be held to the normal standards a cop is SUPPOSED to be held to which isn't always the case as is well know. His punishment should not be more severe than others if they break that standard. You shouldn't wish so much harm to some to a person who fucked up, everybody does it and so do you.
@jessicar45367 жыл бұрын
Regular citizens are sentenced severely to serve as deterents to others, so why not cops too? Because When THEY are corrupted-the whole of society slides downhill as well.
@DyneTyrreal7 жыл бұрын
It's fine if they have severe sentences, I just don't agree with holding them to a higher standard and punishing them more severely than everyone else. People now a days hold far to much resentment for the police, it's always been a thing but now it's become a fad to come up with any reason what so ever to hate on them more to the point people are killing cops. The job already had risks as it stood. I don't want to see a civil war in the states just because people built themselves into a frenzy, made worse by the media, and tear the country apart. People say a lot of shit on the internet, they always have, but now I am seeing that boil over into reality more and more and it is pretty damn scary. Also, to Jessica R, you are right... partially. Yes the whole society can slide downhill by corruption of the police, however, this is not the case in the states. The police issue is being blown far out of proportion, it's an issue but not as big as it is shown. If you are worried about corruption taking down society in the States your first priority to look into should be politicians and the media. It's gotten to the point to where the people don't even care what they are told, if it is beneficial in the long run and whether it's true or not, they only care HOW the information is given to them. It's crazy to me that people put more importance into whether something sounds politically correct or not over how much of what's being said is actually true.

I mentioned this on another video. And I want to touch on it here to. The whole nurse arrest situation. There's something here I noticed that I don't know if anyone else has. Watch the full video of her arrest. Watch from when Payne gets upset and starts assaulting her (yes, it's assault, put your hands on a cop like that and see what you get charged with). Him shoving her outside. Handcuffing her. Telling her it's her fault for her non-compliance in being illegally arrested. Watch the whole thing. Did you notice something? That skinny cop. He just watches. Watches someone be assaulted. Watches someone commit a crime. Just stands there and let's it happen. He doesn't "participate". He doesn't put his hands on her. Or assist Payne with the arrest. Do you know why? Because he KNEW it was wrong. The most he does, is tap Payne on the shoulder like "hey man, maybe we are making a mistake here". That's IT. If a cop acted like that in any other situation. They'd get fucking fired. If they just stood there and watched someone be assaulted. Or someone commit a blatant crime and did NOTHING. They would get fired. Period. But he does nothing. And you know what? THAT is why nobody trusts the police anymore. It isn't the few bad cops like Payne. Who after a lifetime of dealing with assholes have become that asshole themselves. It's not the cops like Payne who have that "just do what I fucking say even if it's illegal" attitude. It's not the cops like Payne that bully people just because they don't agree with him. There truly is only a few of them. But they aren't the problem. It's the THOUSANDS of cops that just stand there and watch that shit happen. That "backup" their fellow officers with bullshit reports. That don't report abuses like this. That don't step in and do their fucking job and STOP assaults by fellow officers like this. It's those thousands of cops that don't stop those few bad ones. That are "ok" with the bad cops actions because, in the end, it helps them get what they want. Those are the cops that TRULY erode public trust. Because at the end of the day, their tacit "support" of those bad officers is what lets them do what they do. And you think this is the only video like that? Watch some other cop confrontation videos. There's always that one or two cops. In the background. Just WATCHING as some asshole cop throws a temper tantrum. And yet, not doing a SINGLE thing about it. Keep toeing that line boys.

Thank you for sharing Nurse Wubbels' story. As nurses, we often feel like we don't have voices. We are silenced by the law or our own administrations and do not have the opportunity to stand up for ourselves and the autonomy of our patients. Nursing is a taxing profession, but knowing that we can still be advocates and lifesavers to our patients is why most of us started our careers in the first place.

I feel like this has not been pointed out enough in coverage of this story and as some who is familiar with working in healthcare, particularly ERs: This hospital policy is in place to be compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). This is a LAW that is in place to protect patient's medical information. This nurse was following the law and could have lost her job and license for compiling with this unnecessary blood draw. As someone who has worked in Emergency Departments and frequently interacted with law enforcement this is an area, when it comes to the healthcare setting, that officers consistently fail to acknowledge.

There was no possible court case! The driver of the semi was in no way at fault. He was driving his truck, delivering his load, in his lane, within the speed limit, when this maniac fleeing from police (it appears to me deliberately) decides he'd rather commit suicide than go to jail, so he jumps the center line and slams into the semi head-on. I can tell you with 100% certainty that the trucking company Gray was driving for has insurance, and that the insurance company will sue the police department because the incident occurred during a high-speed chase and they will look to mitigate their losses by claiming the PD has a certain responsibility for causing the wreck. With the same 100% certainty, I can tell you that someone at SLPD said for them to try to find some way to mitigate THEIR responsibility by claiming the driver of the semi was impaired and if he hadn't been he would have been able to avoid the pickup that hit him head-on. Hence why they said they "needed" the blood for a tox screen. No competent judge should have given them a warrant for Gray's lab results, as there was a complete absence of probable cause to suspect him of a criminal act. This was purely a case of cops trying to play CYA, and then trying to manipulate the nurse into giving them what the supervisor probably knew he couldn't get anyway, unless they lied and claimed Gray was driving erratically too. The only possible court case PD would have had was against the driver of the pickup who apparently died on impact, hence, no court case at all. This was solely them trying to find a way to avoid being held responsible in a suit for damages by the insurance company/trucking company/Gray, whose case would have been that had the police backed off, the driver of the pickup might not have driven in such a way as to cause the wreck. Plainly and clearly abuses of power on the parts of both officers.
