🤔 WTF is this video, and why should you care? (Please let me explain...) 🔥 The rise of TikTok happened ridiculously fast. It only launched 2017, and yet in 2020 it was the most downloaded app in the world. Every social media started copying it. Governments wanted to ban it (a few did). Some people loved it and made millions from it. Other people hated it and accused it of some of the worst things imaginable. 📺 I wanted to understand the full story behind what was going on, but there weren’t any documentaries/films or even detailed KZbin videos about it… until now. 🎥 I’ve dedicated the last few months of my life (and many hundreds of hours) to make this ‘mini movie’. It is not just the story of TikTok though, it’s also the story of Bytedance, which is the parent company that owns/created TikTok. 📕 This is a bold claim, but I believe Bytedance will be the biggest competitor Google has ever faced. And yet hardly anybody ever even mentions them. So even if you don’t care about TikTok at all, the story of what Bytedance are doing (and what they can become) is important. I'm never on TikTok Im still a KZbin girl myself lol but the more I watch videos like this, it becomes very eye-opening to what social media has become, it's kinda scary really!! @@oo--7714 I learned how to build a PC on KZbin. I have watched documentaries, seen how things are fully made from start to finish, and more. I never could see how to use tiktok besides mindless watching which I was bored with in minutes. My mind needs a hook and mindless watching can be fun for like 15 minutes tops.

The internet was much better off in it's earlier development in the mid to late 90s when people saw the internet as a source of information rather than a source of entertainment. We can blame the rise in fake reality/trash tv for having ruined television starting with that fake as hell survivor crap nearly 23 years ago so now the teens and young adults are turning to social media as an alternative source of entertainment,which we can all blame that myspace crap for and later facebook(fakefok the tiktok wannabe). I don't know or understand WHY these companies are so desperate to control the teenage demographic when teenagers don't have a disposable income to spend on items being advertised to them through these platforms when adults on the otherhand generally have a more disposable income.

This is why everytime you login to youtube you essentially see the SAME recommended videos on the homepage that you saw the previous time you accessed the site.

my experience of tiktok was; downloaded the app and started scroling saw some confusing post mentioning depression, i checked comments to see what they were talking about. i couldnt find out what it was. kept scrolling started seeing videos about how messy peoples rooms were from depression, they were showing it off like some kind of badge of honor. i mean boasting about having a nest of bugs living under their bed that they never leave. checked comments on one that had millions of comments. i started to feel sick reading the comments kept scrolling started seeing videos of underage people, teenagers slicing their wrists with blades and recording everything. i proceeded to deposit my lunch into the closest toilet. i dont tell people this experience cus its just too fucked up to even explain without causing myself destress i just tell people i dont like the app, i tried it and it wasnt for me. if i found this app when i was younger and very depressed i would not be living right now. thats all ill say.

My experience was: Downloaded the app, and was kind of weirded out. Started randomly scrolling Didn’t use it forever all day long, but eventually started using it more Got annoyed with it, and saw a red thoughts video then got traumatized. It is so so, so terrible seeing teens cut their wrists, show off their rooms, and constantly “vent” about their terrible life. It’s so annoying atp. I gotta admit.

Ok but THIS terrifies me. There was always something about tik tok videos that was very off-putting to me. Now i understand why. I really hate that the addiction to mindlessly consuming content is something i have to fight against every day. We're all so distracted, there's so much going on that we don't even realize. All this is building up to something big, and it's not good. The pot is going to boil over, and life as we know it will change forever. Delete the app, lift your eyes from your phone and look around. It's all very off.

The issue at hand is not people like you and i, free thinkers. Its people like gen Z, who, from experience, will reply with "what do i care? Let them collect whatever data they want from my phone, i dont have any passwords on it anyways". Little do they understand (failure of our education systems building up to this, making dumb workers that follow like sheep) that this app is collecting data that IT cares about, facial recognition, psychological analysis, even as low grub data as your masturbation habits (it logs ANYTHING you do and websites you go to). Then, it can be used as a weapon against them when neccesary. Its all social engineering at its finest, and the plandemic was the icing on top

This is by far the most enjoyable and comprehensive docufilm on TikTok I've ever watched. Everything else I've read or seen on the success story of TikTok are just bits and pieces of clues that one has to put together but you're the first to give us the full story. Furthermore I love movies that follow the hero's journey and this video utilizes elements of that.

I downloaded it once and only had it for a couple weeks before deleting it. I never liked it and saw how people were becoming so addicted to it. Told myself I wasn’t going to be that person and don’t want all of the negative side effects so I don’t have social media at all. Just KZbin. You gotta want to not be addicted to that stuff. And don’t follow the crowd. Social media has its consequences depending on your use.

I havent had the same experience. I feel KZbin algorithm really tries to corral and control your thoughts too, though not as much as Tiktok. All of the internet doesnt seem like it used to be. Propoganda and ads everywhere

9th grade, I quit social media after being constantly addicted to it. Deleted all of my social media, i was way more happier all of the sudden. TikTok came, I was way more hook to it, got sad severely for the lack of Social. i remember to this day where I spent over 7 hours scrolling through TikTok. I quit after a week when I looked back why I was using TikTok and figured it was pointless. (Social media is NOT for social like it used to be.)

I have never cared for TikTok, I am one of those people who really don't want a smart phone, and rather hate what's popular. But this makes me just feel an indescribable range of thoughts, feelings, and emotions, some good, but most neutral or bad. It's one of those moments where you go "I don't know what to think anymore" and just hope that nothing bad happens in the future. I've always wondered why it became so popular, and I can't really connect with that kind of sudden explosion of popularity because it's not part of my nature to chase the hot topics.

Never downloaded tiktok, I remember seeing it on a friend's phone and thinking "bleh." People send me tiktok videos all the time but idgaf. I just remember it seemed to "blow up" not that long ago. I'm a Milennial and all I use are Facebook and KZbin. There's too many things out there. Overwhelming world and I fear for our future living "connected disconnected".

I remember the teaser ads for tiktok popping up everywhere. It was just perfect timing with the closure of Vine. People were looking for a replacement. And they hired artists to lip sync in short videos to songs making it look fun. I admit that the second or third ad I saw I clicked. It just worked. Great marketing. Perfect timing, at the time I had no idea that it was created in China with questionable agendas.

Many people my age LOVE TikTok, but I have always vowed to avoid it at all costs. On KZbin, I have been blasted with TikTok ads, which seemed to want to pry me out of KZbin, and as a result, I started hating TikTok. When I did try TikTok for once sometime last year, I didn’t get the content I wanted to watch, and I had to search for content that I actually was looking for. As a result, I deleted the app and I have vowed to never use it again.

KZbin has come a long way in the last 10 years , and I've came to think of it like a garden. The better you tend it , the better the content it will offer in return. Being mindful is the key here and I think this also applies to TikTok and any social media. Having grown up with TV for the most part of my childhood makes it that hour long content can feel boring if not well prepared , while short clips of roughly a minute feel more like ads. The relevance and purpose of the content we watch is also VERY important. Having the option to leave a comment , like or dislike , also brings a sense of community. But like anything else we can do on our computers , time management is essential and real life comes first. Balance and common sense are key here !

I've heard TikTok was supposedly good at showing you what you want to see but I found it the opposite. I don't know what it was grouping me with. But the app drove me away. It didn't show me anything that I wanted to see. It was all crap.

Exact thing happened to me, but it was Instagram. So i deleted it. I never download TikTok. Nor Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat etc. PS: I'm in my late 30s not a Boomer lol

I was never interested in it from the start. I will say tho, that You Tube used to group me with videos I was interested in back about 2- 3 years ago and seems like after CVD I would type in key words for videos and would get either the total opposite of what I wanted, videos I already watched or vids contradicting the actual videos I wanted to see. Seems like after the American Internet was sold to ICANN in 2015 (I believe) it took time to re vamp it, scrub Truther vids and replace everything with their agenda but it's in full effect... We really aren't free, unless that freedom coincides with the agenda...

that happened to me when i just freshly downloaded it. then i pressed "not interested" alot on the videos that i disliked, while pressed heart on the ones i liked. the algorithm suits me perfectly now.
