You have a nice style. It’s like back playing my parents organ and you hold down the “rock2” preset and the “samba1” preset at the same time then let one go and the rhythm kicks in different. I could do that all day.

@@RickyTinez It's hard to decide on what task to focus your Eurorack on (unless you want to spend a fortune [you do anyway in modular land] and have a huge wall of modules) - For example I wanted to shift my rack more towards experimental-drone-ambient but after this video I'm hesitating to pull out my "simple bass line"-setup..

This module is great when combined with the digitakt 2 euclidean sequencers sending triggers through a midi to cv converter. You can generate a trigger pattern then commit it to the track and edit it which you can't do with eurorack sequencers like the turing machine or marbles.

If you want to lock the note just use a sample & hold ! Honestly, you could emulate what this module does by sending a turing machine to a quantizer through an attenuator and a scaler to change the "height" and the "amplitude" of the sequence and then sample the signal with an S&H. But with modular the possibilities are so vast, mix an lfo or noise to the sequence, or another sequence with a different clock and number of steps. If you quantize and S&H, you will always get something musically and rhythmically relevant (sampling a sequence with a rhythmical gate is kinda like a rhythm quantizer if you think about it) Anyway, that's probably my favourite thing to do with modular !

Awesome! This is basically what I've been trying to turn my turing machine into. You could use a sample & hold to update the pitch only on trigger. The cool thing about modular is that you can often fix the shortcomings of a module with another module.
@jamesbaynton18813 ай бұрын
Me too, Turing machine, mixed with synced lfos and offset to 'control the' spread', plus S&H, with separate pitch and triggers. Although I'm sure this NE module ends up being more than the sum of my parts.

I bought a Clep Diaz based on your recommendation. So great, I bought another. This thing has my interest as well, using it as a modulator or using a clock div/mult on the trigger input. But yeah… NE is addicting. Bought a binseq and a newer version BIA. Just awesome stuff.

Ricky, I watched another video that was talking about the inputs being sound sources (pitch?)... But yours is the sequence or trig - from Steppy.... and that makes more sense... I still don't quite understand the whole thing....
@RickyTinez25 күн бұрын
TL:DR when you send it a trigger, it moves forward one step in its randomized sequence. When you lock in a sequence, it will still move forward one step within that locked in sequence. If you use audio at its inputs it'd probably be moving forward really fast haha. I like using Steppy to move the randomized sequence forward because it allows me to add breaks or new rhythmic patterns instead of having a steady 16th note clock. And if I like/lock in a pattern, I can keep those notes but explore the rate at which they play by adding or removing steps from steppy
