@@madarasoun3018 completely depends on the game you're playing and what settings you play at. Look at the GPU usage. If it's at 97%+ then you won't see that much of a gain. If it's 90 and below then you'll see a decent gain. 96% and below is a CPU bound but the lower the percentage is, the more a better CPU/ram kit will give a performance uplift.

Thank you for the great review. I appreciate your time. One suggestion for future CPU tests would be to include games which are actually almost always CPU bottlenecked. Speaking of simulations like Anno 1800, Factorio, Stellaris. You simply can't have enough CPU power in these games and I'm looking to upgrade because of sub 40 FPS in such games.

I’m definitely interested to see how things add up price to performance for someone to do an upgrade (motherboard, ram, and CPU) to ryzen 7000 vs 13th Gen. Out of the gate these things seem like little rippers - and the fact that they technically still support DDR4 (if I’m remembering right) is appealing to me entirely on the basis of spreading upgrade costs out over time.

sadly Ryzen still a better option in the long term ( while i love my AMD stuff ) i cant get past the both the board and the 13th will be boat anchors next year .. unless of course your happy to sit on the z690 and 13th for a few years then its a far cheaper option than Ryzen 7000 !! @@volvot6rdesignawd702 its not, zen 4 boards plus ddr5 eat at the price like crazy. Besides they only said they would garuntee support for 3 years. In 3 years so far they’ve only dropped 2 complete gens elephant in the room, the i5 is kicking the R7’s ass and nipping at the heels of the R9 in multithreading… for $300-330. Thats such a huge issue thats being ignored that vcache cant help at all. On top of that even with 3D vcache, what its not gonna actually make much of an improvement when frame rates are already absurdly high with these new CPUs to the point its a waste of money.

Having two more cores would be nice and cooling wouldn't be much of a problem since I'm going to undervolt it anyway (see what der8auer has done with the 13900K) but 2 more cores doesn't look worth forking over an additional 120,- €. I've just ordered an i5-13600KF build with 32 GB of DDR4 3600 memory and an ASUS Strix Z690 motherboard for my RTX 3080 as an upgrade from my current almost 10 year-old i7-4770K with 16 GB of DDR3 1600 memory. This is for 1440p gaming on a 27" G-SYNC display with games runing at maxed out settings with RT and DLSS, where available. As such, I'm a bit out of touch with what constitutes a CPU core these days because the i5-13600KF has 14 cores, right, split between 6 performance and 8 efficiency cores as I understand it with the former offering 2 threads per core and the latter a single thread per core for a total of 20 threads. So why is this considered a 6 core CPU in the review? What do the 8 efficiency cores do if they are not considered to be CPU cores? I looked at the i7-13700KF but for gaming at 1440p the i5-13600KF seemed to offer the best value for money by far, especially for the RTX 3080. I certainly will not be buying a 4090 or 4080, the latter of which costs £1,269 for the Founders Edition here in the UK with third-party models costing even more! For comparison, my RTX 3080 cost me 'just' (lol) £749 so the 4080 is almost double the price generation-on-generation which, in my opinion, is utterly absurd and not a pricing model I endorse or support personally.

@@iamyourunbiasedgod2022 I was gonna pair it with a 3080 or higher, but so much has changed in the last few months that I need to reconsider. I was hoping for Nvidia's 3000 series cards to drop in price, along with the 13th gen after launch, but they only went up. Not to mention that the z690 prices went up pretty significantly for some reason. The 4000 series cards also released, but the prices are crazy. On the AMD side, they had some serious price cuts on the CPU's, and the new 7000 series cards offer some pretty good competition.

Good video, i'm building a pc with the 13600k and pair it with the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX you reviewed. I think going with the midrange stuff is a good option as this CPU offers good value and performance. Sure it's not the fastest CPU, but building a midrange pc with components costs a lot less then it doesn't really matter about LGA socket cycle. I mean they all ready talking about M.2 PCie 5.0 SSD's with massive heat sinks, and only a few high end Z790 expensive boards that support them so even if they did go another cycle on the socket some of the features on the board will be out dated anyway with the next generation of M.2 PCie SSD's. And right now M.2 PCie 4.0 SSD's 1TB are a good bargain and fit most of the midrange boards like the Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX you reviewed.

If you look at it as a 6core performance (PLAY THE GAME) CPU + an (on-chip but separate) 8core efficiency (background tasks music, email, utube, updates etc etc) handling CPU then it all makes perfect sense. Not sure how Intel are marketing this chip but it makes so much sense for a modern gamer+. Oh and power consumption is not crazy in fact it's way lower than expected - on the other hand 13900 is CRAZY and given it's idle (which we know they never really are) draw is pretty much the peak draw of this processor is crazier still.

true that most reasonable people would upgrade 3 - 5 years. I recently upgraded my pc after 4 years and I'm seeing myself upgrading for the same amount of years or maybe more considering modern games nowadays required less specs from a PC compared to games that were made years ago and it will continue to do so.

I am planning to buy new processor this week (i am build a system from 0 on Z690 MB). I am choosing between i5 13600K and i7 13700K. My goal = playing games, run films, google etc.. I want to build a PC for a 4-5 years usage without platform change. What better for me to buy = i5 13600K or i7 13700K. The budget is not a problem, but I try to choose better variant for reasanable price, THANK YOU!

@@shadowprice8100 that is exactly what I thought, but i also though I could use a little extra power and cores for future proofing as this gen will be the last with the socket before I gotta get a motherboard. Thats why I strongly considered something better, just so it'll last a bit longer!

@@alvarobrufalgarcia86 Well i thought that too when i got my 9900kf years ago and i have watched many 6 cores easily surpass it in productivity and gaming... and with amd and intel constantly trading blows who knows if ill be amd or intel next time i upgrade? So it best to go the best value this time and then go best value again in the future besides, a 4090 can do 4k 120hz gaming! Thats going to work for a really long time!

This is why the results are the way present is because the 13600K has some extra cache added (similar in specs to 12700K):- L1 = 24mb, L2 = 20 and L3 = 32mb 12600K :- L1 = 20MB, L2 = 9.5mb and L3 = 24mb (I think)

Tbf re: platform longetivity, I like to start with the first gen CPUs and then end with a used chip from the final generation, so the same AM5 board will last me 10 years easily. 🤷🏿‍♂️ Only reason I'm not sticking with AM4 is that I wanna go ITX anyway.

Depends on what you need out of the system but a 13600k or hold out to see what the 3d vcache cpu(s) from AMD are like as those should be solid gaming and general use options for years to come, and a little power tuning on both them and the gpu could keep you under 750 watts and make cooling easier in an itx build.

Hello, I've ordered the 13700kf and its on its way but I'm having second thought. ' I have a TUF 4090 I ordered a Strix Gaming Z790-F My Aio is Is a Ryujin 360 with A12x25 fans, My PSU is a Seasonic Prime TX1000 Titanium Will it be fine regarding temps and watts you think, i've seen videos about the 13900kf the power consumption and how to reduce it. I'm quite freaking easily about temps and even if the 13700kf won't be as warm as the I9 (I hope so?), i'm still a bit worried about it..
@vMaxHeadroom
@vMaxHeadroom Жыл бұрын
the 13700KF will be more than fine with temps well under control with a 360mm AIO and the 1000w PSU will handle both the 13700K and 4090. I have the 12700K overclocked to an all core 5.1GHz and no issues on temps with my 360mm AIO. On gaming the temps will never go above 70 degrees anyway and more likely in the 50 degrees area. The 13900K does run hot as it is pushed to the limit but the 13600K and 13700K will be more than fine with that AIO...Just enjoy the 13700K matched to an RTX 4090....And the 4090 is something I can only dream about!!!!!!!
