@@andrewdieffenbach5043 to overtake in Imola you have to be WAY faster, Charles wasn't, he was like .200 or so faster but you need to be at least half a second or more faster to get the overtake done (because he did get close to Lando without DRS), also in case you didn't know he was driving without the engineers help as he could not hear them after the restart. So imagine fighting Lewis and Trying to overtake without help of team radio... while lando gets all the help he needed.. remember 2020? how landos engineer pretty much was telling him what to do in every turn...yeah im actually amazed Leclerc did so good considering the handicap.. Im happy for Lando don't get me wrong but it kind of rubs me the wrong way when they comment on how amazing he did and yet it was thanks to the red flag that he even was anywhere near the podium... Also Not sure how many people noticed it but Ferraris rear wing was set up for more downforce compared to the others. And Charles actually confirmed that

@@BuuGz86 Great analysis. the more loaded set up worked wonderfully in the wet, that red flag robbed Leclerc of a comfortable 2nd place finish. makes you wonder how close he could have gotten to Ham on saturday with a more traditional set up. Also, imagine if Lando was the one without team radio, by the end he was bumping into something in the cockpit, causing him to lose some time, and probably wouldn't have realized it if it wasn't for his engineer.

The reasoning behind the standing start was explained on German television... you had a large difference between the right row of grid slots and the left side of the grid slots in regard to how wet they were. It would have been unfair for one side,so a rolling start was the fair solution

Many broadcasts couldn't explain that. For instance, where I watched it (Latinamerican Fox/ESPN) they were like "What!? It should be a standing start, since it's a red flag!" And then explained nothing further as Verstappen spun, then the start and then Lando's charge. I don't know for sure about the rest of broadcasts, but I believe they were in that same train of thought ("Red flag = Standing start")

To be fair, they probably wouldn't have been able to explain it on German TV either if they didn't get the chance for a short interview with Helmut Marko during the red flag period. He was very adamant that a standing start in these conditions would be unfair. You can assume that there was some strong lobbying from Red Bull going on behind the scenes to protect Verstappen's lead.

Race rundown reminds me of how fortunate we are to have this grid. In a few years we will remember that time where we had Alonso, Vettel, Raikkonen, Hamilton, Schumacher, Verstappen, Russell, Ricciardo, Leclerc, Sainz AND Norris on ONE grid. These are all names that will resonate throughout F1 history I'm sure. They all sound so casual today, but in a few years we will realize how lucky we were once Alonso, Vettel, Raikkonen and Hamilton will retire.

The gap Bottas left was very similar with what Lando left to Lewis in those last laps. How come it's not George's fault. He still has much space left on the left. The Following cars started the race in 2nd gear (as most do in normal conditions) Alo, Ric, Nor, Lat, Lec, Str, Oco, Ver, Gio, Bot, Rus, Sai, Ham, and Msc. These current cars rev through 1st too quickly and 1st is used at slower corners such as monaco or hairpins. Teams are allowed only 1 set of gear ratios a season and cannot change final drive nor 1-8 gear ratios. I watch all practice sessions and all teams use 2nd gear as launch gear. Don’t take it as this revolutionary technique or 200iq idea. If y’all watched the sessions and actually paid attention some things wouldn’t even be an argument or talking point

To be fair with Perez overtaking under the safety car, he was barely off the track and the driver in front of him after he rejoined the track were braking hard like they want to give him the position back. I actually felt more like it was a misunderstanding or misinterpretation by the waiting car. Edit: I watched it again, he was pretty far off but didn't lose too much time. And the waiting car was a Mclaren.

Honestly you can't really hold it against him, the track is so narrow and the gravel traps and sausage curbs make it dangerous to wing it. The only good, safe overtaking spot is the exact one he used to pass the Ferrari's and Norris. Notice how he backed out if he didn't have the overspeed to clear them before the braking zone.

Some people are saying that Russell didn't even hit the grass and that he just hit a wet patch. It doesn't matter though, in my opinion Bottas should have turned left. What Russell said, Bottas is going 250 MPH and that he is going 30 MPH faster he has to make a decision and he has only a few miliseconds.

In Austrian TV Alexander Wurz mentioned something that the rule about rejoining the circuit under the safety car changed a while back and that you actually were allowed to get back into your possition when you left the track under a safety car in the past.
