I really appreciated when they were showing Perez passing Ocon, and before the move was even completed, they showed the crowd reaction. I think the TV director realised that they were actually showing a pass live and put a stop to that quick smart. Only allowed to show passing on the replay. Brilliant TV direction as usual.

That really annoyed me as well, we'd previously seen Perez (and other drivers) trying to make a pass around the outside of turn 1, multiple times, sometimes getting onto the dirty part of the track and allowing the other driver to get back ahead, so we already had plenty of precedence for how that move is not over just because the overtaking driver is briefly ahead. Then fast forward to Perez on Ocon, Perez goes round the outside of turn one, you can see he was struggling to get the move done - as we already knew - and the director decides 'Well, nothing more to see here, move done. Quick, lets cut to an extended shot of some random fans with a Mexican flag and then...what, the move is not done? What do we do, should we get back to the action...let me think about that." F1 TV direction has so often been diabolical, it's like the tv directors have never watched the sport before and don't understand when a move is likely to be exciting, or else completely miss great moves in the midfield for a shot of the leaders trading fastest laps.

Honestly every race I just can’t understand how it’s so bad. Are they trying to force everyone to buy an F1 tv membership to actually choose what we wanna see? It’s like they’re trying to make each race like an ep of Drive to Survive.

Or last year. When Lewis, Valtteri and Carlos all suffered left front tire failures in the last 3 laps. I'm going with last year when Lewis famously won the race on 3 wheels. That would be the most obvious thing to remember.

He's been running pretty good still. He finished P10 in Mexico and Brazil, after starting from the back of the grid (Engine penalty in Mexico, and first lap puncture in Brazil). He was running P4 (might have finished P5 if Perez overtook him) before his puncture. If it weren't for the puncture, he single-handedly would've scored more points than both Ferrari's combined.

While you could probably say Lando has lost some of his mojo from the first half of the season, you can't really say that about this race, it was one of his best of the season, he was as far up as he could have been, was on for a P4 or 5 finish before the puncture.

I liked it because it was about the guy behind managing the dirty air and then getting a good exit out the last corner so it was like a proper chase (DRS felt a bit too powerful but that might just be because we have perez making it looks easy)

I liked the track.. for some reason reminded me of Malaysia.. loved the overtaking, and the speed around it.. those curbs tho... car killers.. I went into the weekend thinking it'd be Max v Lewis battle that'd be most exciting but ultimately it was Fernando making it to the podium that made me most happy. He was so happy and its just a joy to see for a champ and all round great guy like him. He really seems to be enjoying himself lately.. proof age has nothing to do with success.. or enjoyment of what you're doing. Also gutted for Gasly. So much hype and promise before the lights went out and it just didn't work out for him but he has so much potential... bet we'll see him on the podium alot still.

You know, there are moments in life, when you hear something funny, let's say a joke 7/10, that should make you laugh, but not histerically, yet you end up on a floor corpsing. I think this race would've been really exciting if max started 2nd. he'd definitely either outbreak Hamilton into turn one or be able to at least keep behind him. and Verstappen actually had really good pace so he would be able to stay behind in the drs range. the strategy would play a huge role. I mean, Verstappen got the fastest lap multiple times on the same tires and strategy as lewis so that just shows that if he started 2nd it would be way more interesting.

I think in race Hamilton is about 0.3 to 0.4 seconds faster then Max. So even if max started 2nd, the end result will still be the same unless max is able to jump Hamilton to outbrake him in the 1st corner when lights turn green. That's the only chance max have.

7:30 what I really enjoyed with this track, is that it often forced drivers into side by side racing if one tried to overtake (not just a simple and unexiting "drs and hes ahead obvertake"...) Something that resulted in many exiting battels even if there was a pace difference. And if the cars and drivers were roughly the same speed, it came down to who woudnt make a slight mistake in a multy corner battle, this truly made for an exiting race. However I am afraid, that this will be less the next Years, as there will be more pacience when obertaking, because now drivers know were trying to overtake is or isnt a good idea. And some exiting battles were a direct result of the track beeing a first time for F1and therefore drivers soundet out overtaking ideas.

I'm seeing people saying Ocon didn't defend well against Perez on the internet. They obviously know little about racing. Just because the 5th fastest car on the grid got overtaken by arguably the fastest car on the grid doesn't mean the 5th fastest car didn't defend well. Especially when Perez had DRS, softer tires, and fresher tire advantages over Ocon. Wanna see bad defending? Go watch Stroll with less than 5 laps to go and he's fighting for points. He just let's them pass with no fight whatsoever.

I missed the bit, it might've only been on the Pit Lane Channel, but there was 1 bit where one "Nico Hulkenberg" got a 5 second penalty. Must be the most delayed penalty in the history of F1.

The driver's standing also confirm it's been the "Lewis & Max Show" this year. 140.5 point gap from 2 to 3, 8 points between 1 and 2. Those 2 this year are formula 1, the rest is formula 1.1. The pace they can consistently (with sometimes Checo /& Valterri hanging on) do over the rest is just silly. And Checo and Valterri are not slow. And yes I enjoyed this race, we saw some great battles (Ocon v Perez pog)

Looking back at the race, RedBull gave alonso the podium. Yuki holding Perez for a few crucial laps at the start, them mirroring Max's strategy for Checo leading to the first stop putting him traffic and the second stop too late to be effective.
