As a brony I want to say that half the people on that Reddit thread are overdramatic as hell. If you think the point of r/place is to just "cover up people's drawings", you are part of the problem. r/place is a site-wide community project whose purpose is to excercise collaboration and creativity, not vandalism and bullying, which is exactly what he's doing. Place is a rare snapshot of our Internet culture as a whole born out of communities working together to make something beautiful. Not this.

So many people failing to check in on the nature of the stream bombing them and getting noticeably up in arms was a bad strategy. Would have benefited from going radio silence as soon as he started reading posts instead of drawing attention to how upset they were. Deterring a content creator by feeding them content not the best strategy. I'm really disappointed in Asmon here. I'm a fan for years but what he started here, after saying he didn't want to go to war, is making me really sad. He inspired other streamers and communities to now hunt down the brony faction and they are getting so much backlash that they are now completely gone from the canvas. No one wants to help them out of fear of also getting targeted and on their Reddit most people are just defeated. I looked into their history and they helped many smaller communities to defend their place and now in return they get driven out and targeted by everyone. Shame on you, Asmon. Today I'm disappointed in you.
