In the grand finale to “The Big Picture,” Jason Buck speaks to Chris Cole, founder and CIO of Artemis Capital. Chris is one of the sharpest players in the volatility space and has made his name by playing risks and opportunities that others can’t see. An outspoken critic of the 60/40 equity/bond split, Chris is an advocate of what he calls “the dragon portfolio,” which consists of gold, long volatility, and commodity trend-following in addition to stocks and bonds. Chris gave a glimpse of the dragon portfolio when he spoke with Danielle DiMartino Booth on Real Vision in February 2020. Since then, volatility has exploded, both during the massive sell-off in March as well as in the shocking market melt-up since then. Simply put, the dragon has been unleashed. The twin risks of the left tail (deflationary deleveraging) and right tail (inflationary deleveraging) loom large. As Chris wrote in his 2020 report, "to thrive, we must embody the cosmic duality between the hawk and the serpent." Filmed on July 27, 2020.
This video is the last part of a three-part, in-depth series on volatility from "The Big Picture" series on the Plus tier.

Gold, silver, real estate and stocks. Bonds aren't really attractive anymore. Perhaps BTC, but purely as a speculative asset.

Just curious if you hold any short positions on bonds? Im curious because I know ALOT of hedgies and retail investors are short on long term bonds right now. Like 4 standard deviations outside the norm with short positions. If you check out Steve Van Metres channel he has a keen understanding of central banking mechanics and posits that bond prices will go thru the roof within 1-3 years. Data shows the commercial banks are buying up all the bonds right now and at the same time the FED is ALSO buying bonds out of the market which reduces liquidity even further. Steve thinks banks tightening lending standards will help along the impending next market crash and when it happens everyone will want to buy bonds. The fact that short positions are so one sided and banks are taking the opposite position is something worth watching. In a fight for survival between hedge funds and banks Id put my money on the banks every time. Theyve got connections, more experience, and more access to the repo market. Hedge fund managers dont stand a chance. Just something to think about.

In a nutshell, is it to apply straddles for the leader in each market. For instance, suppose you invest in crypto; you will be long in the underlying asset (Bitcoin) and long in put and call options or perpetual futures. I can imagine that the rebalancing will depend on the "moneyness" of each derivative.
