The ending was so anticlimactic. They could of done anything. They did exactly what was expected.

If they wanted to save money, instead of burning the house down, they could have just had Walt snap Evie's neck and entomb her for her insubordination. Then a handsome ginger rescues her and they fall in love. And the gingers sister then becomes Walt's new submissive. Now Dracula has his complete set of brides. A blonde, a brunette and a redhead.

This was an unfortunate moment when the trailer gave away everything about the movie. Going in, I knew about the DNA test starting the story off, I knew she was going to be forced to marry the guy against her will, and I knew this was about vampires. I wasn’t surprised by anything, simply because the trailer gave it all away. I appreciated aspects of the movie, but I did feel it fell short. Interestingly, she said “Where are the groom and bride?” many times in the trailer, but I only remember her asking once in the actual movie.

The actor’s portrayal of Dracula was a spot on impersonation of Sean Connery’s Bond, he even looked like Sir Connery (RIP) I believe he should be seriously considered for the role, the actor oozed 007’s personality

I am a sucker (haha) for vampire films so I was really looking forward to this and I really wanted to like it. I wish it had been rated R and much spicier. And I wish she would have gotten out of that situation but stayed a powerful vampire. Like in Wir Sind Die Nacht, an excellent take on the feministic vampire (Lucy and Victoria reminded me of two characters in that movie, too)

Saw the movie last night and it was slow going at first. Damn near fell asleep but I popped my eyes open at the dinner table scene. I enjoyed the movie and based on this review, I'm going to watch it again when it comes on demand. Great review guys. I'm surprised Evie did not realize she was related to the lady in the picture. They looked alike.

The bits when Joseph and Nick talk about women’s agency made me recall Angela Carter’s THE BLOODY CHAMBER (1979), and the adaptation of her work as Neil Jordan’s THE COMPANY OF WOLVES (1984), and also Margaret Atwood’s BLUEBEARD’S EGG (1983). I wish the plot twist would have been like Evie knew all along about the tradition, Dracula, her ancestor, etc., and like she studied the history for years and was set out to kill them all. It was like going to the manor was all part of her plan only to deceive them. But vampires can read minds, so perhaps the writers thought it wasn't a plausible plot twist. Lol

This had all the pieces of Cruel Intentions, Queen of the Damned, Ghost, Dracula 2000, Tales From the Crypt, Get Out, Death Becomes Her, Ready or Not, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Gotham(hence Alfred reference and the actor who played Alfred in Gotham playing the butler 😹 etc.). I too called this The Mehgan Markle story and also thought of Zoe Kravitz, nice Angel Heart connection. This basically is what it's like when you marry a narcissist 🧛🏽‍♂️

I noticed the main character had an outlander shirt on so I knew the tone and target audience they were going for. I appreciated it at least evoked an atmosphere but every time they obscured the gore for that PG13 rating, I rolled my eyes. I really liked that shot where the vampire hands scratch against the drapes. Technically, the movie is pretty well made but woah is it ridiculous

2 1/2 out of 5 is the same for me. I will say after watching the trailer after I watched the film it gave away too much. We don’t get that dinner scene until 70 mins which is a bit too long. It’s a shame it couldn’t have had a little more to it considering I had the same thoughts about the acting and cinematography.

I liked this movie but I really wanted to love it! I wanted some well-made, seriously acted, cheesy, ridiculous black woman vampire romance- which it delivered but the ending was so anticlimactic. Also- the cultural accuracy of wearing a scarf to bed was cancelled by her jogging into the forest at night.

I agree the start was good. I just wish Evie would have accepted her faith and we got to see how the brides get along. My favorite parts of Van Helsing were the Bride scenes.

I know this is a crazy comment but I was hoping that when evie killed Dracula that she would become the new lord somehow and use her powers to bring down the family alliances. I know the story’s that all vampires turn to human when the head vampire is killed.., but that would have been a cool twist in my humble opinion.

I've said this a hundred times, I feel that everything coming out of Hollywood is so rushed. They're thinking about Money & budgets! Like a sale at Walmart! NOT! We don't want to buy our movies on clearance! We want the whole story & put the time in! Movie stars don't matter either! They should have never put stars on such a pedestal. No one should make millions on a movie! I don't care who's playing the part as long as the story is good & the star cares enough to put everything into it. Hollyweird is just trying to make money! As many movies as possible!! And it's killing them. I've been watching KZbin blogs more than movies lately because there more exciting!!! Just as I no longer watch the news! Yeah I had the same response of a Meghan Markel feel, however I think they was building a romance for ivy so when she get hit w/ her own wedding it might go smoothly. Just one of those plot twist ending. Not a bad film though.

This film felt so YA to me. I had no idea what this film was about going into it, but immediately I got a CW TV series vibe and was a little turned off. As soon as I saw blondie at the party dressed like a flapper, I knew some undead stuff was afoot. I was like, they're either ghosts or vampires. Also, I didn't find Dracula attractive. This movie was so meh. It could have been SO good. I was kinda here for having a person who was part black be the main character, you never see that in these types of movies. It's like, FINALLY! I want to like this video but I don't want to be number 666 🤣, I agree with y'all entire review. By the end I was ready for it to be over and that's when the action really started. To be fair I'm not a fan of vampire movies, so there's that lol. However I do wonder, cause correct me if I'm wrong but I remember that if Dracula turned a human to a vampire, that once he dies, so do they. It seems like everyone that does vampire movies seem to forget that lately. Also if I know that one of the 3 ways I can be killed is by burning, there wouldn't be any candles in my mansion at all 🤣Like get a lightbulb man lol. I also didn't like that we don't have a clue if Evie is still a vampire or not. The movie is watchable but predictable as well.

I actually like the movie. I watched it on HBO. I did think it was about vampires from the beginning. The dying of the lady, then the young employees, the manor, to me all that hinted vampires. I thought the acting was good. The going for a run at night scene was ridiculous and out of character for someone like her. But overall it was a good movie. Not the best but not horrible

Watched the unrated version and thought it was just okay. They actually show the lady that killed herself head coming off and rolling on the ground. I liked the acting, the story is where it fails mostly. Not enough of a horror movie and not enough of romance movie. This is a confused movie that didn't know what it wanted to be.

With this movie, I had too many questions. I think it would have made it slightly less obvious, is if they had a decoy couple to be married. I think she would have asked less questions & it would have made it less awkward. Also the storyline with how she's related to the Alexanders was a lil dumb to me. Her mom could have just been white and her dad be black and she just be biracial. Her great grandmother didn't need to have had a affair with a black man for evie to come out the way she did. I just thought that was extra for no reason. Either way alot of plot holes that could have been better scripted. Other than that the movie was OK.
