Interesting fact: The premise of the movie is based on a question, the question being is "What if a gun didn't want to be a gun?"

which is ultimately a pointless question because guns are not sentient beings and cannot have morals or make decisions....the pro-gun crowd loves to use that as some kind of argument to let redneck felons hoard half a militia in their meth sheds but it's dumb af honestly.

Anybody else remember those great trailers for this movie narrated by the great Peter Cullen you’d see on VHS promo reels for the late 90’s/early 2000’s Warner Bros animated films like Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, the first Pokémon movies? “You’re ten years old, you’re at home alone.” Peter is one of the few who could make that sound epic!

I think Kent's motivations are laid out quite nicely. You can tell from his introduction that he thinks this whole "paranormal" government program is a waste of time, and he's been assigned to lead it. He finally finds something worth investigating and he's not taken seriously by his commanding officer. He's clearly a paranoid person, and that's not helped by the fact that he lives in 1957 America. He knows something is up with this "monster", and he's thwarted by a 10-year-old kid and his beatnik friend. By the climax of the film, he's gotten a taste of power, only to have the army start to second guess the situation. It's no surprise to me that he has the blinders on and wants to eliminate the subject of his fear by any means necessary.

I'd not seen anything about it, no trailers no nothing, and it's still one of the best cinema experiences I've ever had.
