Love the video. I am a descendant from Austin McNeel & the Isle of Barra. I am holding the 87th year for the McNeel Picnic in June. I am looking for pebbles from the beach as prizes. I collect rocks from all over the world. ❣️

What a lovely delightful film, Barra looks such a lovely safe and happy place to live, reminds me of St Mary’s on the Isles of Scilly although far more populated and commercial they too leave produce at the roadside with honesty boxes for the money, it seems to me that these offshore uk islands are hidden gems without the trappings of the modern world in which most of us live, thank you

My ancestors are from Barra, and left for Cape Breton Island, in Nova Scotia Canada, many years ago. The landscape is quite similar, and also the weather by the looks of it. I hope to visit this place some time soon. Thanks for your video.👍

Thanks Ross will do. my plan is to buy a hopscotch ferry ticket which will include Oban to Barra, South Uist, Lewis finishing in Ullapool. Currently I’m looking for campsites and places to visit so will definitely be watching your videos for ideas. 😊

You will have to camp on Barra as they are getting a bit twitchy about wild camping there the best one is the one i mention in my vid but there are a couple of nice ones near the Isle of Barra Hotel. Once you get onto South Uist and upwards i always wild it, if you watch the 2 vids on escape from camp covid you will see 😎

Great vlog. I remember year after year as a child going to Barra. Couple of times flying from Glasgow. But mainly sailing from Oban. Doesn't look like it's changed that much. Must be 25 years since I last went. Once all the Corona stuff is out of the way will definitely go back. It's heaven .

@@miyah3961 Hi, I am very interested in Barra and the other islands of the Outer Hebrides. Do you know if there has been any progress toward the community taking ownership of the Barra Estate from the Scottish government? I know that the MacNeil chief made that a possibility when he gave up ownership. And South Uist did a similar buyout about 15 years ago.
@edwardneilloftheclanmacnei70573 жыл бұрын
Awesome video, not many people know about that the island's in the outer Hebrides like the Isle of Barra were safe haven's for Scottish pirate's like my clan. I would love to live in the Isle of Barra one day.
