Had this happen recently. My team built a crucial (and quality) app for the company. The marketing team got an award for it.

Lost most of our team due to the COVID situation. Our queue has doubled in incoming tickets. We kept everything floating. The marketing team got their people back before we did, and got an award. For nothing. They are idiots. Office Space is looking like a lesson instead of a comedy. Burning the place to the ground sounds tempting right now.

But it's true. Being an IT technician is a thankless task, really. Anything that does get achieved gets "stolen" by management, or other functions. The thing is that IT is a enabling function and usually it's whoever is enabled to do their job better, and not IT, who get the credit for increased effectiveness.
