@richardmcdonald307 for once, 10k for a bike that is actually properly made? No cut corners? Not made in China? Frame protection put in several places from factory? Painted right and faced? Many brands don't do any of these and still charge you 10k. Which would you choose for 10k? A properly made bike, or an improperly made bike? That's the point. For once, I would pay 10k for a well made bike.

I have a Basso Venta as well and it´s been a very lovely bike so far. Made in Italy carbon bike, a reasonable price, excellent quality. Had a budget left over for a saddle and wheel upgrades. And I have a matching blue Basso Gap from the 90s. Love this brand!

It is great that you are giving the thumbs up to high quality finishing on this carbon frame. Why can't all the top manufacturers do the same, these frames cost thousands, anything less IMO is an insult to the paying customer.

People should only buy from those companies that do real QC . Meeting industry stated specifications and facing mounting surfaces where necessary. All power to basso. Shame on those who peddle substandard goods and expect the customer to perform corrective work. Especially, those wanting a king's ransom for a frameset that they pay next to nothing for.

I want to thank you very much for raising awareness among buyers, but ultimately also among manufacturers, about the importance of the quality of bicycle frames with videos like these. It is absolutely unacceptable that carbon frame sets costing around 5000 euros are sold where the bottom bracket shell or brake caliper mount needs to be reworked afterwards.

I had a Basso Steel bike many years ago I sold it bécause I had no place for all my bikes - Basso had the reputation to build high quality painting was far better than my Masi and Colnago bikes - no chrome (tube manufacturers prohibit chroming because of the whole process aggressive baths sanding etc) Thus they are indestructible
@domestique3954
@domestique3954 Жыл бұрын
Actually that’s not true-I had one of the first Basso steel frames in Germany ~ 1982 and it had a chrome microfusion fork,chromed chainstays and the hit was the indentation at the left side of the top tube where the rear brake cable was pressed in. Impressive sportive geometry,outstanding paint job( metallic red with white decals) and with Campagnolo super record. One of the best bikes i’ve ever raced,together with the gios*torino

I have reservations about bike brands in terms of their origin and where the majority of their bikes and components are actually made. Orbea from Spain, also make quality bikes but they don't have the same marketing prowess as other brand names. Historically I can't think of any brand name from its country of origin (with the exception of China) that is successful in doing everything in-house as well as exporting.

Italian bikes historically were never as good as the paint jobs and athletes lead us to believe. The French and English generally did a better job of a lot of things, but somehow they're not the brands old men are buying to hang on their wall, or refit with a horrendously tall stem so they can pretend to enjoy riding them again.

@@Mapdec the paint is very vulnerable to impacts more than any other carbon bike frame my wife or i had and thats a lot (2 x cube, 2x canyon, specialized, pinarello and colnago) and all the others are doing much better. There are many places at the vente where the paint is missing and you dont know why. And at other spots the paint got "washed" away by dirt water while riding in rainy conditions, this only happens at the ventas paint... ... Basso Support offered a paint repair Stick. And they answered its all caused by impacts so its Our fold. What makes it even worse is that the color "purple lable" is very dark and the base layer is light grey, so the bike looks pretty beaten up.
